Take the Survey! - Be a part of the process!

Welcome to the Diocese of East TN 2016 bishop search survey! Your input to the search process is very important and will be gathered and compiled by Holycow! Consulting and shared with the Bishop Search Committee to direct our search efforts.

Survey URL: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LSDioceseET Scan the QR Code at right to go directly to the Survey. Note: The survey will remain open until August 30.

It seems there are always surveys showing up on Facebook or in our mailboxes – email and snail-mail both. Why is this one different? This is a critical means of finding out what our congregations think about where we live and move and have our being. This survey is one of ways you help us frame the future for our work to bring in the Kingdom.

There are several parts to the survey and will take about 30 minutes to answer all the questions.

1. The first part is an introduction. 2. The second part is a one-question “tell us about you.” 3. The third section tells us how you think the Diocese is doing, whether you have experience working on diocesan committees (it doesn’t ask that specifically but any of the questions are aimed at those who work outside the parish). Remember that “The Diocese” is not just an office with staff. It includes all parishes. 4. Section four begins to talk about our future. Unlike the focus group meetings, these are quantifiable questions not one designed to elicit conversation. They are just as important as the focus group sharing. 5. Five and Six are asking a few more questions about you. 6. Seven is one question asking about the need for change in the Diocese. 7. The eighth section asks about characteristics of our next bishop. It is in two parts: Critical Abilities and Personal Qualities. You are asked to rank those most important to you. At the bottom of each page, there is room to add others. 8. The last section is a catchall of sorts. The last question about areas of mission and ministry is most important. Where are we moving in the right direction and where are we not?

If you know of someone who is not online, please email us know at [email protected], and we will make sure a paper copy of the survey is made available for them to fill out and return to us. It will be entered into the online survey by someone who doesn’t know the person who takes the survey.

Answering the survey is a prayer. It is our collective chance to give thanks to God for what we have been given and to discern where God is leading us next. It is us asking God for our next shepherd.

Why use Holy Cow! Consultants? • They are very good at what they do. Most dioceses seeking a new bishop have used them to help. • We used them six years ago & can use the results then to help us see the changes that have taken place since then.
