2009-04-14 07:00 CEST The Birthday Massacre till Putte i Parken! Kanadensiska bandet The Birthday Massacre kommer för första gången till Sverige. Men det blir bara en spelning i Sverige. Den gör TBM på Putte i Parken i Karlskoga. The Birthday Massacre är bandet som grundades i London för tio år sedan men först nu kommer till England. Inget är vad det ser ut att vara när det gäller det här kanadensiska synthrockbandet som lika gärna skulle kunna klassas som...tja, elektro- industrirock kanske? Så när det handlar om London i TBM:s fall så är det London, Ontario i Kanada. Två år senare flyttade hela gruppen till Toronto med inget annat än en demo i bagaget. Där tog de också namnet The Birthday Massacre. 2002 kom första albumet "Nothing and nowhere", 2004 "Violet" och 2005 dvd:n "Blue". 11 september 2007 kom så tredje albumet "Walking with strangers" Därefter gjordes en EP med titeln Looking Glass 2008 . Nu i maj släpps en live cd med titeln Show and Tell och en efterföljande Europa-turné. Förutom spelningar i England, Tyskland, Belgien och Österrike med flera länder blir det en spelning i Sverige. Och det är Putte i Parken i Karlskoga som får äran av det Sverige-exklusiva giget. - The Birthday Massacre är ett band som är stort i sina kretsar och med tanke på att flera andra varit ute efter bandet är vi naturligtvis stolta över att få signa TBM, säger Putte i Parkens arrangör, Niclas Lagerstam. - Det förstärker ytterligare en redan riktigt stark lista över akter på Putte i Parken. Chibi (sång), Rainbow (gitarr), Michael Falcore (gitarr), O.E (bas) och Rhim (trummor) är de fem vi får se på Putte i Parkens scen i sommar. Vad vi får höra? Melodiös syntrock och mycket energi... - The Birthday Massacre är, enkelt uttryckt, ytterligare en stor anledning att se fram emot Putte i Parken i sommar, konstaterar Niclas Lagerstam..

„The Birthday Massacre“ ist ein musikalisch/visuelles Projekt, das 1999 in Toronto, Kanada ge- gründet wurde. Die Band versteht es, ihre Musik in einem Gesamtkonzept aus Mode, Bildern und Performance zu integrieren. Durch die unterschiedlichen Talente der Bandmitglieder, aus dem Multi- mediabereich, kommt es zu dieser einzigartigen Gesamtpräsenz der Band. Klänge und Bilder werden durch kontrastreiche Themen inspiriert. Es ist eine Mischung der düsteren und heiteren Seite der Musik, die Verschmelzung von Fantasie mit zynischem Realismus, Romantik mit Tragödien, Horror mit Humor und Liebe mit Ironie. Sowohl die Charakterentwicklung der Band als ganzes, sowie die Fantasie an sich, spielen eine wichtige Rolle in diesem Projekt. Alle Mitglieder von „The Birthday Massacre“ verkörpern einen Stil, der auf den dunklen Elementen der Fantasie und Kindheit basiert. Die Band entstand 1999, zu dieser Zeit noch unter dem Namen „Imagica“ in London, Ontario, Kanada. Am Anfang bestand die Band aus 4 Gründungsmitgliedern: Chibi (vocals), Michael Falcore (Lead Guitar), Rainbow (Rhythm Guitar) and Aslan (Bass Guitar). Um das Gesamtbild auf der Bühne abzurunden, wurden verschiedene Live-Schlagzeuger für die einzelnen Auftritte engagiert. Noch während ihrer Zeit in London, war die Band in der Lage eine perfekte Bühnenperformance, sowie ausreichend Songmaterial zu erarbeiten. Doch bereits in 2001 wurde das Projekt in „The Birthday Massacre“ umbenannt, und der Aufenthaltsort nach Toronto verlegt. Der neue Name entstand in Anlehnung an den heute bekannten Song „Happy Birthday“. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt, waren „The Birthday Massacre“ soweit, dass sie professionelle Studioaufnahmen von ihren Songs erstellten. Aus diesen Songs entstand die erste in Eigenregie produzierte EP „Nothing and Nowhere“. Damit verschafften sie sich sogleich viel Aufmerksamkeit in der Musik-Szene Torontos.

Fronted by September (M Lazar), the guitar driven force of hard rock and metal marries the sweep and grandeur of dramatic lyricism and melodic vocals. Produced by the band itself, 'Melancholia' is a musical journey though the emotions of the central character in the story of September Mourning. September is a girl trapped between the worlds of the living and the dead. She is a reaper, with the power to harness death and use it to make things right. Each song on the album represents the emotions and memories she absorbs when she takes a soul. The album opens with the powerful roar of guitars in 'Go For the Throat', a metal driven song encompassing revenge and a thirst for death. The epic 'A Place to Call Your Own' with its catchy guitar riffs and melodic chorus beckons its listener to believe that they are being watched over. 'Always' is a personal glimpse of September’s own story in which heavy guitars mimic the dramatic lyrical content, while 'Fallen' pleads to the ones who have lost their way and their hope, and is a totally awesome melodic track with a great chorus. Then we have 'Love is War' with its taste of dubstep, that powers a candid look at the dark side of love, while the hideously catchy 'Lost Angels' reminds us of the beauty that lies within us all.
