Madley Park House Newsletter JUNE/JULY 2014 FALLS AWARENESS WEEK BRINGS OXFORDSHIRE HOMES TOGETHER FOR ICE SKATING . Whizzing around the ice rink with one of our residents Kathy Kearsy laughing and screaming go faster certainly made for a wonderful day. It highlighted the fact that its was national falls week and also showed that we can still be safe (even if our chef Kelly did laugh after have a little bump when trying to skate alone). After we all went to the Evenlode for lunch which was a Carvary followed by a lot of snoozing on the bus journey home . WOODSTOCK MUSEUM Woodstock museum was such fun. We could dress up, feel things and there were lots of interesting activities to keep us occupied . Of course we needed to spend time refuelling ourselves with tea and scones in the sun too. JUNE AND JULY’S OTHER ACTIVITIES We had Springfield school students in for a weeks work experience, the mix of older and younger generations was brilliant and brought out the mothering side in our fe- male residents .We also held a Wimbledon themed day for open day this year where we spent the morning making shortbread and the afternoon in the sun enjoying strawberries and cream and guzzling pimms and lemonade all whilst having a tennis tournament . Meet our residents Jean Butterick Gwen Ferryman Jean is from Eynsham and has lived there all Gwen is from Abingdon. Gwen first met her her life, her mum, dad and grandfather owned husband at a dance in Witney, they were and ran the local village shop, Jean too worked both clerks. Gwen and her husband had 2 there for many years before going to do what she always wanted, nursing at Churchill and boys which she likes to talk about . Gwen Freeland House. Jean and her husband who she likes to travel and can recall visiting Swit- met at a dance didn't have any children , howev- zerland and Germany . Gwen likes to have a er she IS a great animal lover and always had natter and is a warm friendly woman , so if Labrador dogs. you fancy a cuppa and chat you can find Jean liked to travel her favourite places visited Gwen usually downstairs in the lounge . are Paris and Switzerland . OTHER NEWS Kate Taylor Care Leader at Madley park gave birth to a baby girl on the 30th June called Esme Louise Taylor who weighed 8lb8oz and is absolutely gorgeous . Mother and baby are doing well and Esme is looking forward to meeting you all .
