It has been a momentous year for Chipping Norton School and has fittingly ended with Ofsted judging the quality of education offered as ‘Good’ with an ‘Outstanding’ sixth form and ‘Outstanding’ personal development and welfare. The Ofsted visitors were quick to recognise what we know: that the Students, parents, staff and governors are celebrating Chipping Norton School quality of learning being recognised as a "Good" school with some "Outstanding" areas following its is firmly rooted in latest Ofsted inspection. what happens in The Ofsted report recognises the many exceptional characteristics of the the classroom. Appeal Decision Inquiry Held on 17 to 20 and 24 April 2018 Site visit made on 17 and 23 April 2018 by J Dowling BA(Hons) MPhil MRTPI an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State Decision date: 06 June 2018 Appeal Ref: APP/D3125/W/17/3182864 Land South East of Lancott Lane, Brighthampton, Oxfordshire The appeal is made under section 78 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 against a refusal to grant planning permission. The appeal is made by Spitfire Bespoke Homes Limited against the decision of West Oxfordshire District Council. The application Ref 17/00965/FUL, dated 22 March 2017, was refused by notice dated 12 July 2017. The development proposed is full planning permission for residential development comprising 46 dwellings, together with access, landscaping and associated infrastructure. Decision 1. This appeal is dismissed. Procedural Matters 2. On the application form the site address is given as Land South of Abingdon Road, Standlake. However, when the application was registered, the Council referred to the site as ‘land south east of Lancott Lane, Brighthampton’. Given the length of the Abingdon Road I consider that this address more accurately identifies the location of the site and therefore I have used this in my banner heading. 3. Prior to the start of the Inquiry the Council confirmed that in the second reason for refusal they had erroneously referred to policy BE5 of the West Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011(the LP). This policy deals with development in conservation areas and as the site is not within a conservation area I agree it is not relevant and have therefore not considered it when reaching my decision. -

Case Study TTE co-ordinates drugs Focus Fortnight across West Oxfordshire schools across the WOLP schools taking part, deliver co-ordinated PSHE sessions on drugs for all Key Stage 3 to 5 pupils, follow up sessions with the School Nurse for those who wanted one-to-one discussions and three drug awareness evening events for parents. Walking back in Time: Conservation in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, 1942-65, from the Diaries of Charles Elton K. J. Kirby . Summary The diaries of Charles Elton, a father of community ecology, give details of over 300 visits in the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire between 1940 and 1965 (excluding those made to Wytham Woods near Oxford that are reported separately). The entries illustrate the changes that took place in the countryside in the post-war period; the idiosyncrasies of protected site selection at that time; and some of the management challenges that had to be overcome. Though inevitably a partial record they provide insights relevant to modern conservation. Modern conservationists should ensure that at least the equivalent record is passed on to future generations. Introduction Charles S. Elton, FRS, CBE (1900-1991) was one of the fathers of community ecology (Elton 1966) and the first editor of the Journal of Animal Ecology. He created and directed the Bureau of Animal Population from 1932 until his retirement in 1965 (Crowcroft 1991). The Bureau was absorbed into the Department of Zoology and Elton continued to have an office there for some years after his retirement. He was also a key figure in the early years of the Nature Conservancy which was set up in 1949, the forerunner of Natural England and the other statutory conservation agencies, and was involved in discussions on which sites should be become reserves or Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs). This thesis attempts to redress the balance by examining a number of volunteer-run museums in Dorset and the characteristics and motivations of the volunteers involved in their development. This element of the project included a survey of museum volunteers in the county and studies of a selected group of museums through interviews and through archival research in museum records. The thesis also presents a historical analysis, through a number of case histories, of the development of volunteer-run museums in English market towns and villages from 1884, demonstrating clearly how the development of these small museums reflects larger changes in the rural community from the paternalism of the late nineteenth century, through growing independence and democracy after 1918, to the counter urbanisation of the second half of the twentieth century. 1 Changing perceptions of rural identity are also apparent in the history of these museums.
