United Nations A/73/781–S/2019/209 General Assembly Distr.: General 5 March 2019 Security Council Original: English General Assembly Security Council Seventy-third session Seventy-fourth year Agenda items 35 and 41 Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development The situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan Letter dated 27 February 2019 from the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary General Upon instructions from my Government, I have the honour to transmit herewith the records of violations of the ceasefire by the Republic of Armenia in January 2019 (see annex).* During the reporting period, the armed forces of Armenia violated the ceasefire regime 804 times, continuing to use large-calibre guns and heavy weaponry from their positions in the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan and from the territory of the Republic of Armenia. As a result, one serviceman of the armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan was wounded during the month. The military occupation of the territory of Azerbaijan does not represent a solution and will never produce a political outcome desired by Armenia. The resolution of the conflict is possible only on the basis of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders. I should be grateful if you would have the present letter and its annex circulated as a document of the General Assembly, under agenda items 35 and 41, and of the Security Council. (Signed) Yashar Aliyev Ambassador Permanent Representative * The annex is being circulated in the language of submission only. 19-03736 (E) 060319 *1903736* A/73/781 S/2019/209 Annex to the letter dated 27 February 2019 from the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General Violations of the ceasefire by the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia for January 2019* Number of ceasefire Dates Direction (locality) Weapons used violations Casualties and damages 1–31 January Aghdam district, Azerbaijan Afatly village AK 3 Ahmadali village AK 2 Ahmadaghali village AK 7 Ayag Garvand village AK 7 Bash Garvand village AK/AKM 4 Chamanly village AK/AKM/OSV 35 1 serviceman of the armed forces of Azerbaijan was wounded Chiragly village AK/DShK 13 Garadaghli village AK 6 Mahrizli village AK/AKM 7 Mammadbaghirly village AK/DShK 3 Mirashly village AK/AKM 5 Orta Garvand AK 12 Yuzbashiy village AK 1 Zangishaly village AK/DShK 7 Opposite positions AK 14 Aghjabadi district, Azerbaijan Gyamaddynly village AK/AKM 30 Minakhorlu village AK 9 Zangishaly AK 2 Mahrizly AK/AKM 2 Aghdara district, Azerbaijan Opposite positions AK 7 Fizuli district, Azerbaijan Alkhanli village AK 9 Ashaghi Abdurrahmanli village AK/AKM 7 Horadiz village AK/AKM 6 Shukurbayli village AKM 7 Ashaghi Veysally AK 2 Opposite positions AK/AKM/DShK 79 * Settlements of the Republic of Azerbaijan included in this information are under occupation by the Republic of Armenia or situated close to the fire point areas. 2/4 19-03736 A/73/781 S/2019/209 Number of ceasefire Dates Direction (locality) Weapons used violations Casualties and damages Gazakh district, Azerbaijan Ashaghi Askipara village AK/AKM 25 Bala Jafarli village AK/AKM 10 Farahli village AKM 7 Jafarli village AK/AKM 26 Gaymagly village AKM 5 Gushchu Ayrim village AK/AKM 13 Gyzylhajili village AK/AKM 19 Kamarli village AKM 27 Mazam village AK/AKM 7 Musakoy village AK/AKM/PMK 4 Second Shikhli village AKM 1 Alibayramly AKM 1 Gedebey district, Azerbaijan Galakand village AKM/DShK 3 Goyali village AKM 4 Mutudara village AK/AKM / 14 Novoivanovka village AKM/RPK 3 Dordlar village AKM 4 Zamanly village AK/AKM 9 Goranboy district, Azerbaijan Bash Gishlag village AK 2 Borsunlu village AKM 1 Garachinar village AKM/DShK 2 Gulustan village AK/AKM/DShK 8 Kharkhaput village AK/AKM/DShK 4 Opposite positions AK/AKM/DShK 20 Tapgaragoyunlu village AK/AKM 95 Yenikand village AKM/DShK 8 Tapqaraqoyunly village AK/AKM 49 Garguchaq village AKM 3 Zeyva village AK/AKM 2 Unnamed heights AKM 1 Unnamed positions AKM 3 Goygol district, Azerbaijan Kurdalylar village AKM 1 Jabrayil district, Azerbaijan Nuzgar village AK 1 Jojug Marjanli village AK 13 Lala Ilahi heights AK/AKM 16 Opposite positions AK 5 19-03736 3/4 A/73/781 S/2019/209 Number of ceasefire Dates Direction (locality) Weapons used violations Casualties and damages Khojavand district, Azerbaijan Opposite positions AK/AKM 28 Tartar district, Azerbaijan Borsunlu village AK/AKM 14 Chayly village AK/AKM 18 Gapanli village AK/AKM 12 Gaynag village AK/AKM 8 Gazyan village AKM 5 Hasangaya village AK/AKM 24 Husanli village AK/AKM 3 Jamilly village AK 2 Karmiravan village AK/AKM 8 Tazakand village AK 1 Damirchilar village AK 1 Aghdam village AK 1 Opposite positions AK/AKM 30 Tovuz district, Azerbaijan Aghdam village AK/AKM 3 Aghbulag village AK/AKM 12 Asryk Jirdakhan village AKM 3 Hajali village AKM 2 Kokhanaby village AKM 11 Munjuglu village AK/AKM/DShK 11 Abbreviations: AK, Kalashnikov assault rifle; AKM, modernized Kalashnikov assault rifle; DShK, heavy mac hine gun; OSV, semi-automatic sniper rifle; RPK, handheld Kalashnikov machine gun. 4/4 19-03736 .
