Han räknas som Irans nationalskald. Shahnamah finns översatt till svenska i urval av Erik Hermelin och Bo Utas. På IB finns Shahnamah i flera persiska utgåvor. IB har även flera titlar om Shahnamah och Ferdawsis liv. Omar Khajjam/Omar Khayyam, 1047-1122 Khajjam föddes i staden Nishabur i nordöstra Iran. Han var poet, astronom och matematiker. Hans berömda diktverk heter Ruba iyat (fyrradingar). Han är också känd för sina vetenskapliga insatser inom matematik och astronomi. Hans Ruba’iyat översattes och tolkades till engelska av Edward Fitzgerald 1859. Ruba iyat finns översatt till flera språk bland annat till svenska. Attar , Farid al-Din ca 1142-1220 Attar levde i Khorasan i nordöstra Iran. Han var poet och en av de främsta muslimska mystikerna. Av hans verk kan man nämna några som Mantiq al-tayr (Fåglarnas tal eller fågelsagan) och Tazkirat al-Awliya som skildrar 72 tidiga sufiers och mystikers liv.
