Parents play a critical role in helping get their child to reach their fencing goals, and they are encouraged to participate in the training process. Fencing is fun, but competitive Fencing may not be for everyone. Fencers should feel free to fence with anyone during the Open Fencing, and enjoy themselves. Our Fencers must also evolve so that they continue to enjoy the Fencing experience. • Beginning Weapon-Specific Fencing This 3-month training period covers: o Weapon-specific USFA rules o Proper footwork and fencing distance o Simple and compound attacks, parry, riposte o Bout strategies Fencers will participate in club matches and area tournaments. • Intermediate Weapon-Specific Fencing This 3-month training period covers: o In-depth training and skill development o Focus on beginning entry into competitive fencing Drills for conditioning, strip skills, and reading your opponent Training o o One-on-one training is available (for an additional fee) • Competitive Weapon-Specific Fencing This 3-month training period covers: o Advanced fencing skills o Mental preparedness o Physical fitness o Directing Fencers will participate in club matches, area tournaments and national competitions.
