Quite inadvertently, he also sowed the seeds of a business operation that today consists of 31 golf facilities and generates hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenues for the PGA Tour. Called the TPC Network, it currently comprises private, public and daily-fee courses that serve recreational golfers throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Malaysia. Several of those layouts also act as venues for PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions and Korn Ferry Tour events, such as TPC River Highlands outside Hartford, Connecticut, the home of the Travelers Championship, and TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, where the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational was held last month. This year’s PGA Championship was staged at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California, and the first tournament of the 2020 FedEx Cup playoffs, the Northern Trust, is being played this weekend at TPC Boston. That is an impressive collection. Equally as significant is how that division of the tour is thriving as it celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Designed largely by Pete and Alice Dye with significant impact from Beman, TPC Sawgrass was the first piece of that portfolio when it opened in the fall of 1980. Many industry observers, including a number of his tour professionals, considered it a risky venture.

Happenings Summer 2019 Our Mission: Creating safer, more productive lives for infants, children, young adults and families Honda Classic Cares Grant Helps Promote Safe Sleep HomeSafe recently received a $14,500 grant from Honda Classic Cares, an initiative of the Honda Classic golf tournament that supports children’s charities throughout Palm Beach County each year. The grant will support efforts by our Healthy Beginnings Program to promote safe sleep practices for infants, enabling us to purchase portable cribs and “sleep sacks” for families served by the program.
