Nyt tehty ’jatko-osa’ kuvaa lähinnä kirjan jälkeisiä vuosia. Koska toivomuksia kirjankin vuosien lisäkartoista ja kaikista tuloksista on tullut runsaasti, on tähän pyritty vastaamaan. Aivan kaikkia tuloksia ei kuitenkaan alkuvuosilta ole löytynyt. Näiden lisäksi sivuilla esitellään jälleen eräitä avainhenkilöitä sekä esitettyjen toiveiden mukaisesti myös eräitä tausta-asioita. Viestien kuvauksissa kilpailujen selostusten osuus on kirjaa laajempi, koska 1 sivun tilarajoitusta ei ole. Jatko-osa ilmestyy kirjanomaisena netti-versiona. Siitä jokainen voi vapaasti tulostaa itse ei-kaupallisiin tarkoituksiin joko kaikki tai vain haluamansa osat ja vaikka sidotuttaa ne kirjaksi. Tähän on päädytty lähinnä taloudellisista syistä. Painettuna Tarina II:n kustannus olisi noussut niin korkeaksi erittäinkin, kun kokemusten valossa sen painos olisi ollut pieni, että sellaisen tekeminen ei ollut järkevää.     2008-05-27 08:52 CEST Fjärde raka EM-guldet för Emil Wingstedt Det blev en drömöppning för svenskarna när EM i orientering på måndagen inleddes med sprint i lettiska Ventspils. Sprintkungen Emil Wingstedt sprang hem sitt fjärde raka EM-guld, medan Helena Jansson tog brons bland damerna. Emil Wingstedt vann den kluriga finalbanan 14 sekunder före schweizaren Daniel Hubmann. Därmed fick Wingstedt revansch från Tiomila där nämnde Hubmann spurtade ner Wingstedt i kampen om guldet. - Jag var lite stressad i början, men kom sedan in i flytet, säger Wingstedt. Vid varvningen, ungefär halvvägs, låg Wingstedt några sekunder bakom Hubmann. Men under andra halvan av loppet byttes stadsorientering mot orientering bland sanddyner och det var då Wingstedt ökade tempot. - Jag hade som taktik att öppna lite lugnare så att jag kunde trycka på mot slutet, säger han. Näst bäste svensk på herrsidan blev Peter Öberg med en sjätteplats. Helena Jansson tog hand om bronspengen bland damerna, men var bara sex sekunder från guldet. Vann gjorde norskan Anne Margrethe Hausken före Heli Jukkola från Finland. - Det känns skitbra, men jag måste erkänna att det ändå känns lite grinigt när det var så tätt framför, säger Jansson. Suomi saavutti suunnistuksen ja pyörä- suunnistuksen MM- kilpailuissa 6 mitalia ollen tilaston kolmannella sijalla Sveitsin ja Nor- jan jälkeen. Suunnistuksen MM-kilpailussa Norjassa Suomi saavutti kaksi arvokasta kul- tamitalia. Minna Kauppi suunnisti maailmamestariksi keskimatkalla ja viestissä. Viesti- joukkueen muut maailmanmestarit olivat Anni-Maija Fincke ja Merja Rantanen. Tarkkuus- suunnistuksen MM-kilpailut järjestettiin myös Norjassa. Suomen joukkueella oli kolme edustajaa sekä paralympiasarjassa että avoimessa sarjassa. Lauri Kontkanen otti avoi- messa sarjassa MM-hopeaa. Joukkuekilpailussa Suomi sijoittui Ruotsin jälkeen toiseksi. Pyöräsuunnistuksen MM-kilpailut järjestettiin heinäkuussa Portugalissa. Suomalaiset saa- vuttivat kisoista yhden kullan, yhden hopean ja kaksi pronssia. Samuli Saarela suunnisti maailmanmestariksi keskimatkalla ja Marika Hara pronssille sekä keskimatkalla että pit- källä matkalla. Naisten viestijoukkue Kaisa Pirkonen, Ingrid Stengård ja Marika Hara otti hopeaa. Hiihtosuunnistuksen arvokilpailuvuosi käsitti EM-kilpailut Romaniassa ja maailman cupin.     This years World Orienteering Championships (WOC) was held between 18th– 26th August in Kiev, Ukraine. Ireland was represented by five athletes, four men and one woman. Two members of the team are Cork O members, Shane Lynch who is based in Sheffield and myself, Darren Burke. The World Championships involves four events, both individual and team based. Sprint, Middle and Long are the three individual disciplines and the team based event is the Relay which involves three athletes from each country. Each of the individual disciplines involves a final of 45 athletes and to get into this 45 you must come in the top 15 in your qualification heat. Sprint Qualification The Sprint Qualification was the first race to be held on a hot Friday afternoon in a forested park near the centre of Kiev. Due to transport issues, Shane only arrived at the start 20 minutes before his start time. The area used was a mixture of open forest on the side of a hill with a good path network. There were also some gullies in one area of the map. Of the Irish Maeve had the best run finishing 19th in her heat. Sprint Qualification – Golosiivsky Park, 1:5000, 2.5m Mens Heat A 1.
