FBLA shares end of the year projects by Grace Maunu Valentine High School’s FBLA Chapter had two main projects to close out 2020. One of these projects was Feed Nebraska. We partnered with VHS students and staff, FFA, Student Council, and Northwest Community Action Partnership to accomplish this project. Students were asked to bring items (such as milk, stuffing, pies, etc.) to their first-period class. Each class assem- bled one or two baskets of food for families. FFA provided fresh fruit, potatoes, and peanuts. The Student Council partnered with FBLA for a canned food drive to go toward this project as well as to donate canned food goods to our local food shelter. FBLA provided the turkeys and laundry baskets for each fam- ily. Northwest Community Action Partnership coordinated the distri- bution of these baskets to families. On December 17 (the last day of the semester), our school prepared the 28 baskets to be given to families to bring them some holiday cheer. This project not only helped fami- lies in need, but it also brought our school together in one big project. Gratitude to everyone who was in- volved and helped with this project. We appreciate you all! Several groups helped FBLA to fill 28 baskets that were delivered to families for holiday cheer! FBLA’s second large project was This was one of their final projects of 2020. The other was to raise funds for the March of Dimes. to support the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes is an organization that raises money to help children, mothers, and families with birth complications. We asked students to give the change in their pockets to spread change to these families. To help encourage students to donate, we set up a little contest with the seniors’ baby pictures. We had students take their change and Cowgirls 6-6 on the season vote for their favorite baby picture. We raised over a hundred dollars Ravenscroft scores 1,000th point! for the March of Dimes! About eight years later, in 2007, Ms. Sherbeyn went through her own loss. She had a stillborn baby at 32 weeks. This experience gave her a different point of view of the March of Dimes.
