In order to improve efficiency, the county and district councils should be merged.

Turnhill: Hamdown Court estate and Union Drove (located on B3153)) east of would be more appropriately included within and Huish. The large estate is also included in High Ham Parish, almost at its southern boundry. It lies within walking distance of Langport, but driving distance from High Ham. The residents rarely if ever see an allegiance with High Ham Parish - an historical basis for its inclusion is that it is built on the site of HIgh Ham Workhouse - hardly a reason for its inclusion on 2017.

The Ward is presently represented by 2 councillors. Given the increase in the size of the town it is probably time to split the town in 2 wards. This would give better focussed representation for residents and stop both councillors being approached over the same conccern/issue.

I was County Councillor in South Somerset for 12 years, including the boundary review of 1997, so know this area well. I don't have any strong views on the actual boundaries, just two general principles: 1.) The upheaval of such re-organisations often significantly REDUCES efficiency for years, while residents and Council staff learn the new areas that they held in their head previously; and 2.) I think the first of your three basic principles - of equal numbers per Ward - is flawed: and clearly dreamed up by someone who had never represented a rural area. Can you really think the workload is the same, whether you represent 3,000 people in a town, or the same number spread across a sparse rural District? I had a colleague who energetically represented a Division on Exmoor, and travelled hundreds of miles a month to Parish meetings etc - local areas with distinct issues - whereas a Division in central might hold far more people - but probably with far LESS diversity of issues to be dealt with, because of the proximity of one residential area to another. So, on balance, I'd leave well alone. Not what you wanted to hear at all, I'm sure! But worth considering?

Fistly use a map that is uptodate and shows all of the current building works that are completed or on going, this will make a huge difference to the population across South Somerset, as will all of the proposed new developments in the County! Milbourne Port, Yeovil, , Frome, to name but a few.

To whom it may concern. I would like to suggest that When you review the boundaries for South Somerset that the number of Councillors are reduced from 60. I believe a maximum of Two councillors per ward would make the Council more efficient and save the Council on expenses. Kind regards Terry Ledlie

I feel very strongly that should be split into three wards. It would increase democratic accountability if instead of three councilors for the whole area without any specific ties to wards, there were three wards and a councilor for each. Local people would then know which councilor to go to with their issues and be able to hold a specific councilor accountable for decisions and actions taken at the county council level. It would also increase democratic participation because smaller political parties or individuals could canvas one ward rather than trying to cover the whole area. Crewkerne could be split quite effectively into three wards as it has developed quite distinct areas over time.

There is a large dip in the boundary between Northstone and Cary that is filled by Mendip DC. This could cause differences in interpretations planning regulations between adjacent properties. Suggest that the boundaries between SSDC and Mendip DC are smoothed out.
