Matched to tender 4708 it was the first of class to be fitted with a tablet catcher in 1950 for use on M&GNR lines. Sheds inc New England, Grantham, Boston, Colwick from where it was withdrawn 26/12/1964 and cut-up by P. Wood, Ickles 04/1965. Lightly polished front. 12½” x 6½”.

UNITED STATES BRONZE GAUGES FROM THE ENGINE ROOM 1984” to bottom. These fittings and other items inc furniture were sold at auction in Norfolk Virginia in 1984. The ship which 04/07/1952 broke the transatlantic speed record still holds the Blue Riband. Each gauge 7⅜” dia.

Named 09/1965, the plate being in a 1950s Western Region style. This is a replacement plate cast by Newton Replicas after the closure of BREL Swindon and the sale of spare unused plates through Collector’s Corner. This being fitted mid 1980s until removal 05/1993. Plate has “REPLICA” incised into the back another WR example has also been noted with this to the rear of its replacement plate. Plate is totally original condition with areas of ‘rail blue’ to edges/back. 36⅝” x 8¼”. NO BUYER’S PREMIUM.

299 A Locomotive Worksplate “BUILT 1951 CREWE”. Oval c/i, locomotives built this year being standard class 7MT 4-6-2 70000 to 70024, 6MT 4-6-2 72000/72001, class 2P 2-6-2T 41290 to 41299. Repainted front. 10⅛” x 6”.

300 A Locomotive Nameplate “TAGALIE”. Curved brass nameplate originating from Gresley A1 class 4-6-2 built by North British Locomotive Company to work’s no. 23101 09/07/1924 numbered 2563 and named ‘William Whitelaw’. Renamed ‘Tagalie’ 07/1941 after the winner of the 1912 Derby and 2000 guineas. This name replaced the original which was transferred to an A4. Rebuilt as an A3 13/11/1942 renumbered 64 20/11/1946, E64 30/01/1948 and finally 60064 09/07/1949. The engine was fitted with a d/chimney 02/06/1959 and ran from new with a corridor tender (5530) being used for seven years on the non-stop ‘Flying Scotsman’, this later being changed to non-corridor (5584). The locomotive was the first pacific allocated to Haymarket, later Doncaster and then Grantham. Withdrawn 04/09/1961 whilst at Doncaster Works for repair and subsequently cut-up there. Plate is face restored and mounted on lined-out reproduction splasher for display this being fitted with a reproduction brass 9” x 5” work’s numberplate. NO BUYER’S PREMIUM.

THOMPSON & Co (INSTRUMENTS) LTD.” Manufacturer’s plate to base. Used when signalboxes were switched out of circuit at weekends. This is the less common short version. Originates from Hereford. This reproduction was made from the original wooden pattern originating from Stratford works and was one of six produced in the 1960s. Beautifully painted. 12¼” x 15¼”.
