Description The Aintree Hurdle is the Aintree Grand National meeting’s version of the Champion Hurdle but the tracks are different. Cheltenham is undulating with an uphill finish while Aintree is flat. The race was first run in 1979 over two miles five and a half furlongs but the race was shortened to its current distance in 1988. The Aintree Hurdle attracts horses who contested the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and Buveur’ D’Air is the last horse to win both races in 2017.
