OF CYRUS 3 [1] Journal of Cyrus Journal of Cyrus [Stros M'kai, c 2E 865] Entry 1: From S'rathra, my fixer in Wayrest, I received a letter from Tobias concerning the disappearance of my sister, Iszara. Set sail for the island of Stros M'kai in Hammerfell. Entry 2: Restless League attack on Brennan's ship. Arrived harbor of Stros M'kai. Tobias says to meet him at Draggin' Tale. When asked for directions to the Draggin Tale, Captain Brennan said to go up the bridge on the right, through the gate to the town square, and look for the sign. Entry 3: Following a recent civil war, the Empire of Tiber Septim rules Hammerfell. One Redguard faction, the Forebears, allied with the Empire to defeat the opposing Redguard faction, the Crowns, who favored the rule of King Thassad and his son and heir, Prince A'tor. With Thassad dead, and Prince A'tor defeated by Imperial Admiral Richton at the final battle of Stros M'kai, Imperial garrisons are stationed in every Hammerfell city, and Lord Richton reigns as Provisional Governor in Stros M'kai. According to Trithik, though Prince A'tor's body was lost at sea, there are already prophecies of his return. Entry 4: From Trithik I learned that Prince A'tor had dealings with the Restless League, though the Crowns considered the League untrustworthy. Trithik says that Governor Richton ordered the destruction of the Old Quarter, a refuge of the Crowns, with dragonfire. When I suggested speaking with Richton, Trithik said that no Redguards are admitted to the palace. Entry 5: Tobias says he sails from Stros M'kai at sundown to avoid risk of Imperial arrest and that he suspects Richton in Iszara's disappearance. Brother Kithral (a Brother of Arkay) and Iszara both disappeared about the same time, and they knew each other. I should visit Brother Nidal at

THE ELDER SCROLLS TREASURY A REPERTORY FOR MODDERS NEW EDITION PART I CORPUS TAMRIELICUM VOL. I THE ELDER SCROLLS TREASURY Corpus Tamrielicum The Official Books, Scrolls, Journals, Letters, and Notes of The Elder Scrolls Games Edited and annotated by Zeph Vol. I Texts Occuring in More Than One The Elder Scrolls Game Dortmund 2012 All presented texts © by Bethesda Softworks LLC, a ZeniMax Media company. This compilation © 2012 by Carsten Flaake. Dedicated to all devs of The Elder Scrolls series and all lore-friendly modders. Preface The basic concept of the The Elder Scrolls Treasury is that of an offline reference work, which hopefully will give the Elder Scrolls players and modders all original in-game information at hand they are looking for. At present, the Treasury consists of the following parts: - the Corpus Tamrielicum, which gives you all official in-game texts of the Elder Scrolls series, and - The New Encyclopedia Tamrielica, a reference work, where you can alphabetically look up places, people(s), regions, phrases, events, etc., with nearly every bit of information directly derived from the original game files, manuals, and official hint books only, as far as they were available for me. In the Corpus you will find all authentic ingame texts from Arena to Oblivion. It starts with a "critical" (annotated) edition of those texts, which occur in more than one Elder Scrolls game. The remaining texts are separated by the games, in which they occur. Within the games sections they are alphabetically ordered after their titles, as you will find them in the texts themselves, neither by their ingame names nor Construction Set IDs, because these may differ from game to game.

The first chapter provides an overview of studies in apocalypse, primitivism, and masculinity to lay the foundation for the in-depth, critical analyses that follow. The second chapter provides an operational definition of American post-apocalyptic fiction as well as a survey of American post-apocalyptic fiction that includes George Stewart’s Earth Abides, Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend, Pat Frank’s Alas, Babylon, Robert Heinlein’s Farnham’s Freehold, Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle’s Lucifer’s Hammer, and David Brin’s The Postman.

CONTENTS Human History 2 Orc History 16 Undead History 30 Night Elf History 46 Maps 64 Burning Legion History 76 Beastiary 82 Heroes & Villains 89 Humans: the Alliance of Lordaeron Human History (since the end of the second war) Aftermath of the Second War The devastating Second War against the orcish horde left the Alliance of Lordaeron in a state of shock and disarray. The bloodthirsty orcs, led by the mighty warchief, Orgrim Doomhammer, not only smashed their way through the dwarf-held lands of Khaz Modan, but had razed many of Lordaeron’s cen- tral provinces as well. The unrelenting orcs even succeeded in ravaging the elves’ remote kingdom of Quel’Thalas before their rampage was finally stopped. The Alliance armies led by Sir Anduin Lothar, Uther the Lightbringer, and Admiral Daelin Proudmoore pushed the orcs south into the shattered land of Azeroth – the first kingdom to fall before the orcs’ ruthless onslaught. The Alliance forces under Sir Lothar managed to push Doomhammer’s clans out of Lordaeron and back into the orc-controlled lands of Azeroth. Lothar’s forces surrounded the orcs’ volcanic citadel of Blackrock Spire and laid siege to their defenses. In a last-ditch effort, Doomhammer and his lieutenants staged a daring charge from the Spire and clashed with Lothar’s paladins in the center of the Burning Steppes. Doomhammer and Lothar squared off in a titanic battle that left both mighty combatants battered and drained. Though Doomhammer narrowly succeeded in vanquishing Lothar, the great hero’s death did not have the effect the warchief had hoped for.

Abrams A thesis submitted to the School of Graduate Studies Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey In partial fulfillment of the requirements For the degree of Master of Arts Graduate Program in Religious Studies Written under the direction of Debra Ballentine And approved by ________________ ________________ ________________ New Brunswick, New Jersey May 2021 ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS Streaming Violence: Religion and Violence in Television Media by Stephanie A. Abrams Thesis Director: Debra Ballentine Religion is a part of the general culture, and people can choose to engage with it on various levels. Because we live in a media culture, popular media, including entertainment media, is where many people encounter religion. Entertainment media that uses religion to create its narratives becomes a part of the culture and becomes stories that are disseminated around the globe. Entertainment media’s use of religion can have real consequences. Unfortunately, there is a gap in the field of religious violence. Religious violence as displayed in entertainment media is not readily explored. This gap needs to be addressed and can be addressed using the theories that others have presented regarding religion and violence. The methodology of this thesis project is to examine the violence that is present in popular television series that use religion as their main theme and discuss that violence ii through the lens of religious violence theories. Because many popular television series draw on religious stories, motifs, and imagery that are violent, viewers may conclude that these television shows confirm that religions are violent.
