The Council, attended by all 39 Councillors, meets five times a year and makes critical decisions such as setting the Budget and appointing a Council Leader. The Policy and Resources Committee (in accordance with the Council Constitution) is chaired by the Leader of the Council with automatic membership on the Committee by the 7 Lead Members. In addition, three Service Committees covering areas such as sustainable development, planning and transport; leisure, wellbeing and health and general public services and community safety will make decisions within their Committee remit. If you have a concern or suggestion about your local area, contact your Ward Councillor as your representative on the District Council (full contact details are in this document). For a list of public meetings you can attend, look on the District Council notice boards or visit our website and click on Council Meetings http://www.threerivers.gov.uk/listing/council-meetings or phone us on 01923 776611. District Council elections will next be held in May 2018. The election of County Councillors took place on 4 May 2017. Elections of County Councillors take place every four years. Therefore, the next County Council election will take place in May 2021. 1 Who Does What in Local Government Hertfordshire County Council Three Rivers District Council The six Parish Councils within responsibilities cover: provides various services Three Rivers district are: Archives, Concessionary Fares, including: Abbots Langley Education, Emergency Allotments, Arts, Building Batchworth Planning, Environmental Health, Control, Business Rates, Chorleywood Fire and Public Protection, Collection, Cemeteries, Council Croxley Green Footpaths, Highway and Tax, Development Control, Sarratt Transport Planning, Highways Electoral Registration, Watford Rural Maintenance and Development Environmental Health, Housing, (covering the South Oxhey, Projects, Household Waste Local Planning, Parking, Carpenders Park and Oxhey Sites, Libraries, Planning, Public Recreation, Refuse Collection, Hall area). Transport Co-ordination, Sports, Street Cleaning. Hayling Ward is qu te different w th a different community. It is part of South Oxhey and the proposal could result in Oxhey Hall being subsumed into the larger area. The two areas have very little in common and vastly different needs. Oxhey Hall has a community spirit that could easily be lost through this proposal. I consider a one member Oxhey Wall Ward would be preferable.
