How Three Rivers District Council makes decisions

How does the system of local government work in Three Rivers?

The Council, attended by all 39 Councillors, meets four times a year and makes critical decisions such as setting the Budget and appointing a Council Leader.

The Policy and Resources Committee (in accordance with the Council Constitution) is chaired by the Leader of the Council with automatic membership on the Committee by the 7 Lead Members.

In addition, three Service Committees covering areas such as sustainable development, planning and transport; leisure, wellbeing and health and general public services and community safety will make decisions within their Committee remit.

District Council elections will next be held in May 2018.

The election of County Councillors took place on 4 May 2017. Elections of County Councillors take place every four years. Therefore, the next County Council election will take place in May 2021.
