JOB ADVERT Anglo American South Africa (AASA) Education Programme EDUCATION PROGRAMME COORDINATOR: Northern Cape Kumba (Sishen/Kolomela) Anglo American South Africa and Kumba Iron Ore in partnership with the Department of Basic Education have launched the Anglo American South African Education Programme, an initiative of Anglo American's sustainability strategy. This is a holistic approach to education from early childhood learning through to matric, the goal being to improve the educational outcomes of learners in communities local to Sishen/Kolomela in the Northern Cape. As part of this programme, JET Education Services (JET), appointed by Anglo American South Africa, seeks to appoint a dynamic and accomplished high level operational Education Programme Coordinator to join its provincial project team working in the Dithakong and Postmasburg areas of the Northern Cape. Through a number of service providers, the programme will be working in primary and secondary schools as well as Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres. The appointed Programme Coordinator will assist with the programme implementation in the Northern Cape Province in collaboration with the JET Programme Manager and Senior Programme Coordinator. The Programme Coordinator must be resident in either Dithakong/Kuruman, Kathu or Postmasburg. The appointed Programme Coordinator will be offered a fixed term contract and will be required to have the following attributes: Knowledge, experience and skills required Ÿ Bachelor's degree in Education, Community Development or related field Ÿ Knowledge and experience in the education and/or development sectors Ÿ Proven track record of coordinating and supporting large-scale complex interventions and extensive high-level project coordination experience Ÿ Minimum of five years' experience in project coordination, including budget tracking and flawless record keeping Ÿ High-level planning and organisational skills Ÿ High-level communication skills, both written and verbal Ÿ Fluency in English, Afrikaans, Tswana, and Sotho will be an added advantage for the position Ÿ Ability to establish and maintain relationships with project partners, clients and stakeholders at all levels Ÿ Ability to multi-task and work under extreme pressure Ÿ Computer literacy (MS Office package) Ÿ A valid and unendorsed driver's licence. Key Performance Areas The Education Programme Coordinator: Northern Cape Kumba is expected to ensure effective project implementation by: Ÿ Managing and overseeing the delivery of the programme by the Intervention Implementers at participating ECD sites and schools Ÿ Coordinating and managing planning sessions with the various Intervention Implementers at the provincial level Ÿ Arranging, preparing for, attending and reporting into management meetings as required Ÿ Monitoring and reporting progress against agreed programme deliverables and milestones Ÿ Proactively and reactively identifying any hindrances/blockages to programme implementation and recommending appropriate course(s) of action as required Ÿ Engaging in meaningful and relevant stakeholder engagement, including the local community, Department of Education and Department of Social Development, to ensure supported and successful programme implementation Ÿ Coordinating and monitoring the evaluation of project implementation by a team of data collectors Ÿ Ensuring effective communication and flow of information at all levels Ÿ Developing and maintaining relationships at all levels Ÿ Budget tracking and record keeping Must be willing to travel and possess a code 08 driver's licence This position is a 12 months contract (renewable for the remaining three years of the programme depending on performance and funding).
