Macerata Opera Festival from 20 July to 12 August 2018 the 2018 Theme Is #Verdesperanza
! The Sferisterio arena The Sferisterio arena is unique in its shape and structure. Built on the initiative of the Hundred Comrades (Cento Consorti), it was designed in 1829 by Neoclassical architect Ireneo Aleandri to host the game with ball and bangle. In 1921, it was used as an opera theatre for the first time (the first opera to be staged was Aida) and it’s still the only open-air opera theatre with boxes." After Gioconda, which was performed in 1922, activities were summoned again only in 1967. The season opened with Giuseppe Verdi’s Otello, featuring Mario Del Monaco in the leading role. Since then, the Sferisterio has welcomed the most extraordinary artists of our time: Luciano Pavarotti, Katia Ricciarelli, Renato Bruson, Montserrat Caballé, Placido Domingo, José Carreras, Raina Ka- baivanska, Mariella Devia, Anna Caterina Antonacci, Désirée Rancatore, Francesco Meli, Rolando Villazon, Rudolf Nureyev, Carla Fracci, Roberto Bolle." With its 2,500 seats, 104 boxes and one of the longest stages in Europe, the Sferisterio ensures perfect visibility and wonderful acoustics." A majestic yet intimate theatre, the Sferisterio was thus defined by tenor Luciano Pavarotti: “it is the most fascinating open-air theatre I have ever seen, I will never forget it”. Macerata Opera Festival" From 20 July to 12 August 2018 The 2018 theme is #verdesperanza The main issues threaded into our next summer festival are connected with a green, clean envi- ronment and sustainability, with planting the seeds of a better future through the art of hope. Our aim is to build strong ties with other bodies and institutions working on these issues, building a dia- logue on sustainability and bringing together culture, nature and the community. -

While growing into his new role, the shy and effeminate Ulysses is also dealing with questions about his gender identity. He finds an escape by creating a world of fantasy for himself, filled with glimpses of beauty, dance and music. Ulysses’ journey takes a turn when he encounters a vibrant transgender community, who take him to “Saturday Church,’ a program for LGBTQ youth. For weeks Ulysses manages to keep his two worlds apart; appeasing his Aunt’s desire to see him involved in her Church, while spending time with his new friends, finding out who he truly is and discovering his passion for the NYC ball scene and voguing. When maintaining a double life grows more difficult, Ulysses must find the courage to reveal what he has learned about himself while his fantasies begin to merge with his reality. *** DAMON CARDASIS, DIRECTOR STATEMENT My mother is an Episcopal Priest in The Bronx. -

As I was working on this project, I found that I needed to raise my levels of score analysis and analytical thinking. Without Professor Fisher’s patience and guidance this would have been very difficult. I would like to convey my appreciation to Professor Stanford Olsen, whose intuitive understanding of musical style at the highest levels and ability to communicate that understanding has been a major factor in elevating my own abilities as a teacher and as a performer. -
The Unconsummated Marriage in “Othello”
Goodfellow 1 K. A. Goodfellow Professor Henderson English 102 5 May 200X A Guiltless Death: The Unconsummated Marriage in Othello Although Desdemona and Othello are truly in love when they marry, they are unable to consummate their marriage in William Shakespeare's Othello. Because their marriage was tragically short (only three days), there were few opportunities for them to be together alone. When the opportunity did present itself, unforeseen circumstances arose and the moment was lost. This being the case, in murdering Desdemona, Othello kills a virginal wife -- a deeper irony considering that he murders her because he believes her to be unchaste. Desdemona is faithful before and during her marriage to Othello. Her own words defend the fact that she is an "honest" wife. After Othello accuses her for the first time of being a whore, Desdemona responds to Iago's queries of why Othello would thus accuse her with "I do not know. I am sure I am none such" (4.2.130). She continues to defend her virtue up to the moment of her death when she says "A guiltless death I die" (5.2.126). While Desdemona's words alone may not be enough proof of her faithfulness to Othello, her attendant, Emilia, also denies Othello's accusations of Desdemona. When Othello's questions Emilia about Desdemona's honesty, she replies "For if she be not honest, chaste, and true,/There's no man happy; the purest of their wives/ Is foul as slander" (4.2.18-20). As Desdemona's longtime servant, she is more aware than anyone Copyright (c) 2005, Pearson Education Inc., publishing as Pearson Longman.
