The Hanover Powder Puff football tradition was con- tinued with excitement this year, despite the rainy and windy weather conditions. In a rare sophomore vs. freshmen final, the sophomores came out victorious in an intense overtime vic- tory. In the first game of the evening, the sophmores rolled over the seniors winning 20-0. The sophomores then waited for the victor of the freshmen vs. junior game. The freshmen shocked everyone by beating the juniors with ease. The championship game was then in place, it would be a battle of the underclassmen. The sophomores struck first with a touchdown, but the freshmen answered with an exciting touchdown pass. It was a back and forth game that went into overtime. In overtime, each team would get four plays starting at the twenty-yard line. The freshmen were unable to score, and had to watch, as Paige Fuhrman was able to score the game-winning sophomore touchdown. The final score was 18-12. Paige Fuhrman and Courtney Cleary scored the majority of the sophomore touchdowns, where Bradi Hill did very well for the freshmen. 4 Introduction to Manufacturing By Mr. David Harnish Have you ever wondered what really takes place inside of all the large businesses around Hanover? What really happens inside of Utz, Snyder’s, RH Sheppard, and all those big buildings behind the middle school? Yes there is “factory work,” but what does that really look like, what are they doing, and where does all the stuff go? If you are looking for answers, talk to seniors Tyler Yohe and Troy Schrum. These two have taken part in the Introduction to Manufacturing course. This course is taught by a HACC professor and includes students from our school, as well as South Western. You not only receive high school credit for this program, but can earn college credit as well. And your classroom is not inside of a school, but inside 10-different local businesses throughout the fall semester where you will meet with CEO’s, accountants, marketing professionals, sales representatives, floor managers, assemblers, and mechanics, just to name a few. Just think, the annual revenue of Utz is approximately $400 million and Sny- der’s is $750 million- they do a lot more then stuff bags of chips and pretzels. And while McClarin Plastics is in the business of making consoles for Ski- doo, interiors for Amtrak trains, and wind turbines for a world wide company based in Mexico, they are also in the process of developing state-of-the-art facemasks that may one day be used in the NFL. Talk to Tyler or Troy and see what they have learned, or see Mr. Harnish if this is a course that would interest you.
