P&G AWARDED EUROPEAN LABEL FOR SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT

Green frontrunners awarded for taking steps in reporting and reducing emissions

BRUSSELS, December 9, 2014 – Green Freight Europe (GFE) has awarded P&G with its ‘first leaf’ - an award given to companies that have shared CO2 data and information on policies, strategy and intentions to reduce

CO2 emissions stemming from transport operations.

The first leaf is part of a four-tier labelling program by GFE that recognizes and benchmarks members based on their efforts and measures to further improve on CO2 reduction. P&G has been a member of GFE, the leading industry driven program to support companies in improving the environmental performances of freight transport in Europe, since June 2012.

Procter & Gamble P&G continually strives to improve the environmental quality of its products, packaging, and operations around the world. The company is taking steps to reduce its own greenhouse gas emissions and to drive more energy-efficient modes of transporting finished products to its customers.

Since the establishment of its sustainability goals in 2010, P&G has reduced its truck transportation kilometers by a combination of converting loads to intermodal (taking kilometers off the road to save fuel and reduce

CO2 emissions), focusing on increasing vehicle fill efficiency, (allowing the company to increase the number of units shipped per kilometer) and collaborating with other non-compete companies to reduce empty miles.

By 2020, P&G’s objective is to reduce truck transportation kilometers by 20% per unit of production. To achieve its truck transportation goal, the company will continue to optimize transportation modes and routes as well as increasing overall operation excellence.

P&G encourages its carriers to become an active member of GFE, so to report and reduce its transportation footprint through common measures and actions. Through GFE, shippers and carriers have access to many best practices to reduce the transportation footprint.

GFE

In 2015 GFE will further improve on CO2 data exchange. Additionally, all members have access to the GFE Sharing Platform offering expert knowledge, best practices and other information supporting the industry to further improve on their environmental performance and to intensify collaboration. GFE will continue to raise the bar for its members but strives to recognize more members with additional leaves next year.
