Global Safety Surveillance and Analysis (GSSA) is looking for a hardworking, collaborative and creative life science doctoral intern to lead a pilot project team designed to review and assess data from external safety databases that are known to contain adverse event (AE) reports for P&G Personal Health Care products, (e.g. FAERS, CAERs, Optum). The team will determine how information in these external AE data sets relates to P&G internal data with regard to the frequency and nature of adverse events reported, reporter demographics and circumstances of the events. These results will be analyzed to gain further understanding of actual consumer use patterns and to inform our current post-market product safety profiles. As the project nears term, the intern will also assess the benefits of these external datasets as supplements to our internal data with respect to enhancing our understanding of the consumer experience and delivering consumer safety. At P&G, intern sessions are considered temporary employment, with a predicted ending point. No full-time employment commitments are made; however, depending on satisfactory completion of certain criteria, candidates may be considered for full-time positions upon obtaining their PhD. The preferred period for the 10 to 12 week internship is June to September. The internship is a paid, full-time, 40 hour per week position. Hourly rates are based on the student's academic year completed.
