Over 84,000 Employees, Business Partners Get First Dose

In one of the largest COVID vaccination drives carried out by Corporate India so far, Vedanta has administered the first dose of vaccine to over 84,000 employees, business partners as well as their family members.

The company, which aims to inoculate 1.2 lakh employees and business partners, proposes to complete its vaccination drive across all its locations by August 2021. In a novel initiative, Vedanta also plans to provide the first jab to visitors, who have not been inoculated so far.

Vedanta, which is focused on the health and well-being of its people through the mega vaccination drive, will be spending around Rs 12.6 crore to procure the vaccines for the Vedanta family.

Family members of deceased employee will continue to get last drawn salary till date of retirement

Employee-centricity is at the core of Vedanta which has taken up employee friendly initiatives to promote health and safety of its people, especially during the current pandemic.

Considering the increased mortality rate due to Covid-19 and the recent black fungus epidemic, the company is providing a one-of-its-kind cover for family members of deceased employees in the form of continued payments of last drawn salary until notional date of retirement, continuation of Mediclaim insurance until retirement and education assistance for 2 children till they graduate.

The Medical insurance cover for employees has also been enhanced to 1.5 times the existing eligibility. Vedanta is extending all support that is required and has introduced a corporate floater cover for any employee exceeding their eligibility. The company also provides a best-in-class life insurance policy equivalent to 5 times of annual fixed pay.

The company is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to the safety of its employees. As part of its disaster management protocol, Vedanta’s Covid warriors are preparing and taking pre-emptive and preventive measures to ensure safety of employees in case there are any signs of a third wave.

COVID KAWACH FOR BUSINESS PARTNERS

Business partners are integral to Vedanta’s operations and the company’s focus has been to ensure their safety and wellbeing. Vedanta is extending Covid Kawach Insurance to its business partners. This includes term life and hospitalisation as well as an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh which is to be paid to the family members of the deceased business partner employee.

VEDANTA LAUNCHES FIELD HOSPITAL IN HUBLI, HANDS OVER 100-BED MEDICAL INFRASTRUCTURE IN

The Vedanta Cares Field Hospitals are rolling out in record time. Delivering on its commitment to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure in and support communities in the fight against Covid-19, Vedanta on Saturday commissioned its second state-of-the- art 100-bed Covid field hospital in the State in Hubli. Vedanta's first COVID field hospital in the state was recently inaugurated at Chitradurga.

Vedanta Cares COVID Field Hospital at Hubli was inaugurated today by Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal, Mines & Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of India, in the virtual presence of Shri. Anil Agarwal, Chairman of Vedanta. The Field Hospital at Hubli is equipped with best-in-class medical infrastructure including oxygen and ventilators for critical patients.

Meanwhile, Vedanta Sesa Goa Business has handed over a 100-bed medical infrastructure to Goa Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) at Bambolim. The medical infrastructure provided will comprise of 20 critical care beds and 80 oxygenated beds equipped with 10 ventilators and essential equipment, including central monitoring system, ABG machine and X- ray machines.

The handover ceremony at GMCH was held in the distinguished presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant. Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane also attended the inaugural function.

Vedanta, which has committed set up 1,000 COVID care beds across India to support the Government in combatting Covid-19, has already put in place critical care 700 across seven locations to treat ailing patients from local communities.

Vedanta Aluminium and Power Business, India’s largest producer of aluminium and its value-added products, unveiled its maiden Sustainable Development Report on World Environment Day.

The report encapsulates the Business’ performance across key sustainability parameters including Energy Management, Water Management, Biodiversity Management, Air Quality, Health & Safety and Social Impact and Governance for the FY 2019-20.

Key highlights from the report include: • Operational excellence parameters to produce aluminium. • Vedanta Aluminium generated and distributed economic value to the tune of USD 4.8 billion. • Over USD 14 million spent in community investments through social interventions in livelihood and skill development, women’s empowerment, quality education, health & sanitation, etc. improving lives of 3 lakh people hailing from local communities. • Recycling and reuse of wastewater generated at plants, resulting in 3.6 million m3 reduction in freshwater consumption over previous fiscal. • Vedanta’s aluminium smelter at Jharsuguda is India’s first, and the world’s third smelter to deploy Digital Smelter Solution. INDIA TO GET ANOTHER COVID VACCINE

India's mass vaccination drive against COVID-19, in which the government has said that all adults will be vaccinated by the end of this year is set to get a major boost with the addition of one more vaccine. The COVID-19 vaccine developed by US-based biotechnology company Novavax will soon be available in India under the name Covovax. This will be in addition to the already approved Covishield, Covaxin and Sputnik V. The vaccine candidate 'NVX-CoV2373' will be locally manufactured and distributed by the Serum Institute of India (SII) as Covovax.

Billionaire Gautam Adani's group on Monday said it has written confirmation that accounts of three foreign funds that are among its top shareholders are not frozen and reports to the contrary are "blatantly erroneous and misleading". Shares of Adani group companies plunged on Monday after reports that the National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL) froze the accounts of the three foreign funds that are among the top stakeholders in the firms. Foreign portfolio investors had invested in Adani Group's incubation entity Adani Enterprises well before 2010 and they are not new investors, Jugeshinder Singh, CFO, Adani Group told NDTV in an exclusive interview in the backdrop of the recent sharp dip in the group's stock valuation. Shares of companies controlled by billionaire Gautam Adani had dived in Monday's session, leading to a slide in stock valuation to the tune of $7 billion, after Economic Times reported that three foreign portfolio investors' (FPIs) accounts - Albula Investment Fund, Cresta Fund and APMS Investment Fund - were frozen by the National Securities Depository Limited. Riding the steel cycle as the commodity price reached record high of around Rs 67,000 a tonne last week, has pared its debt far beyond its targets and successfully integrated key acquisitions in 2020-21, group Chairman N Chandrasekaran has said. (Economic Times)

The government will auction off large oil and gas fields of state-owned oil and gas exploration firms ONGC and OIL to boost the country’s hydrocarbon production, according to minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who was speaking at the launch of the third round of auction of small discovered fields on Thursday. Pradhan added that companies could not indefinitely sit on resources they may have discovered. (New Indian Express)

Reliance Industries said it has shut a secondary unit at its only-for-exports oil refinery at Jamnagar in Gujarat, which may delay shipment of some product cargoes. “The Fluidized Catalytic Cracker Unit (FCCU) in our SEZ refinery at Jamnagar had to be taken for an emergency shutdown on June 6, 2021. Consequently, some product shipments might get delayed and the company working to minimize the impact on our customers," RIL said in a filing to stock exchanges. (Financial Express)

India is considering making it easier for foreign investors to acquire control of Corp., according to people familiar with the matter, as the government tries to sell the state firm and bridge a widening budget deficit. If the cabinet clears the proposal, overseas funds would no longer need government approval to purchase a 100 per cent stake in state-run refiners cleared in-principle for disinvestment, the people said, asking not to be identified as the deliberations are private. The limit will stay 49 per cent for firms not lined up for asset sales. (Business Standard) JSW Cement has entered the construction chemical business with the launch of a unique green product range in the category. The construction chemicals range includes Enduro Plast readymix plaster, Krysta Leakproof integral crystalline waterproofing compound and Duraflor floor hardner. (The Hindus Business Line)

Coal India Ltd plans to reduce its manpower by five per cent each year over the next 5-10 years to improve productivity and curtail costs. The company has an employee base of 2.72 lakh as of FY 2020. The state-owned miner is also looking to close down unviable mines in a “phased manner” as part of its cost cutting measures. (The Hindu Business Line)

A proposal to bifurcate state-owned gas utility GAIL India has been scrapped for now, and instead the company will monetise some of its pipelines by selling a minority stake through InvIT. GAIL Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Jain said the company has sent a plan for monetising two of its pipelines to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and an Infrastructure Investment Trust is possible within the current fiscal if approvals come soon. The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected a bid by Chevron Corp, BP Plc and other major oil companies to have the court weigh in on their attempts to keep lawsuits over their contributions to climate change in federal court. The high court did not explain its reasoning for denying the oil companies' petition for review of a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in the climate change cases, which were brought by Oakland and San Francisco. British oil major BP will join Norway’s Statkraft and Aker Offshore Wind to bid for permits to build offshore wind power projects off Norway, the companies said on Monday. The consortium in which each partner will have a 33.3% stake plans to bid for offshore wind power projects in the Soerlige Nordsjoe II licensing area in the southern part of the North Sea, one of the two areas opened in Norway. Saudi Arabian oil giant Aramco locked in another $6 billion on Wednesday to help fund a large dividend as it returned to the international debt markets with its first U.S. dollar-denominated sukuk sale, a document showed. The debt issuance, which will help fund a $75 billion dividend commitment that will mostly go to the government, comprises tranches of three, five and 10 years, a document from one of the banks arranging the deal and seen by Reuters showed. European Union antitrust regulators will decide by July 9 whether to clear world No. 1 steelmaker ArcelorMittal's bid for two French steel plants belonging to Sanjeev Gupta's Liberty Steel, according to a European Commission filing. ArcelorMittal on June 4 sought EU approval to buy the majority of shares in Liberty Steel France or its assets whose two main ones are rail maker Liberty Rail in Hayange and steel producer Liberty Ascoval in Saint-Saulve. Vedanta supported ICU facility at Jharsuguda COVID Hospital inaugurated

Vedanta Jharsuguda has supported the ICU facility at Jharsuguda’s District COVID Hospital with essential medical equipment. The newly ramped up ICU was inaugurated by Shri. Naba Kisore Das, Hon’ble Minister – Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Odisha at a virtual ceremony, in the presence of other eminent dignitaries of the region. Combating the ongoing second COVID wave, the company supported the District COVID Hospital in Jharsuguda with 20 ICU beds, 20 ventilators, 200 oxygen flowmeters and 2000 N95 masks, aiding the district administration’s endeavours to provide proper treatment to those ailing from the disease. It has also installed a diesel generator (DG) set at the hospital to ensure uninterrupted supply of power and provided a 24*7 ambulance with healthcare workers for logistics support.

The Nandghar team has come up with an innovative approach whereby patients can reach directly to specialist doctors by dialing a toll-free number and speaking to the doctor(s) based in their region. Before the consultation with the doctor, the patients can get themselves screened through the dedicated help desk agents who are qualified nursing professionals.

BALCO launched mobile application for Smart Logistics inside the plant

BALCO launched a Mobile Application for optimization of internal technological vehicle utilization by using RFID system installed at all strategic chock points and use of soft GPS features using IOT. This application will provide digital platform for tracking of industrial heavy vehicles like forklifts, used for operational and maintenance activity inside the plant premises. The application will be subsequently rolled out for all other industrial vehicles for internal logistics. This application is user friendly and has been developed in English and Hindi for ease of usage by the shop floor teams. This digitalization initiative will be driven by the Metal Services team and will further bolster our process productivity.

Environment Day Celebration

In line with the theme of “Environment Restoration” this year, Cairn through its community engagement activities have developed a unique month-long engagement plan, where the key focus would be on increasing the green coverage across villages through plantation drive, creating awareness as well as help communities acknowledge everything that the environment has given us and to take the pledge to protect it as one.

In two days (4th & 5th June’21), we have planted more than 280 saplings across 12 OALP villages of , Gujarat, and Assam. COVID Intervention - Inauguration of Vedanta COVID Field Hospital

In just 23 days, the 100 bed Vedanta COVID field hospital with state of art medical facility has been established and inaugurated on 4th June’2021. The virtual inauguration was done by Honorable Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mr. Ashok Gehlot in presence of all key dignitaries from State & District. Mr. Anil Agarwal, Chairman Vedanta Ltd. along with Group CEO, Cairn CEO, BU President, Head CSR and others employees of Cairn were also present in this event. The hospital is currently functional with 59 patients been treated at this facility. 5 ventilator has been commissioned at this hospital.

Hindustan Zinc’s Smelter at Debari inaugurates water ATM at Singhwaton ka wada

Sustainability and water positivity is at the core of ’s principles, be it for its operations or its surrounding communities. To make villages near Debari location water sufficient, Hindustan Zinc’s Smelter at Debari installed and inaugurated a water ATM of 3000 litres capacity at Singhwaton ka Wada. Inauguration of the water ATM was done by Mr. Dharam Narayan Joshi, MLA - Mavli, along with key village stakeholders and PRI Representatives as well as employees of Hindustan Zinc. The guests appreciated the support extended by Hindustan Zinc towards the communities, as this initiative will likely benefit more than 5000 community members from nearby communities on a daily basis. Till date, Hindustan Zinc has installed a total of 13 RO plants and 39 water ATMs across its operational areas, that provide safe drinking water facilities to members of local villages.

Hindustan Zinc (HZL) has always been at the forefront to support the community and government in the fight against COVID-19. In continuation of its efforts to meet the shortage of Oxygen in hospitals of Rajasthan, the company handed 90 Oxygen Concentrators to Chittorgarh administration. The company has even extended support to the Local Health Administrations, by disinfecting villages by spraying & fumigating with Sodium Hypochlorite solution.
