Give Kids A Chance Charity Inc. wrapped up a successful decade in 2019, thanks to the continued support of our generous donors, sponsors and partners. By working together, we are creating opportunities for the children and youth of Saskatchewan to participate in and benefit from the sport, culture and recreation activities offered in our province. In the last 10 years, GKACCI has provided millions of dollars in funding to support tens of thousands of Saskatchewan children and youth as they pursue activities that provide examples of a healthy, active lifestyle, explore diverse cultures and prepare them for a brighter future. In 2019 alone, $1.9 million of funding was distributed to more than 23,445 children and youth within our province. As we begin a new decade and enter our 14th year, we continue to celebrate the successes of our programs and their participants. KidSport will ring in its silver anniversary in 2020, with Dream Brokers and GKACCI celebrating their own milestones in 2021. And while there is much to look forward to, the need for our programs is ever present. To ensure that Saskatchewan children and youth living in poverty and facing social and economic challenges get the opportunity to participate in sport, culture and recreation activities, we continue to need your help. Together, we can impact the lives of children and youth in Saskatchewan by offering choices and creating chances. Through her participation in Dream Brokers activities, Aurora experienced personal development, made new friends and was also exposed to “many great leaders” who helped her in all of the different programs. It was those examples of leadership that inspired Aurora to get involved with the Jumpstart program as a youth leader, in hopes that she can make the same impact on the students she works with. “The students will remember how you comforted them, how you were their friend and as someone that they can look up to. That’s what I want to be for the kids participating in Jumpstart.” 2019 ANNUAL REPORT GIVE KIDS A CHANCE CHARITY INC. 5 The Dream Brokers program provides children, youth and their families in select schools the support, resources and education necessary to overcome barriers that prevent participation in new or existing sport, culture and recreation programs. The Dream Broker program is participant driven. Dream Brokers work one-on-one with children, youth and their families to give them the best opportunity to succeed and try activities they are interested in, in a fun and safe atmosphere. In 2019, with the assistance of 76 new partner organizations, Dream Brokers helped 3,225 children achieve their dreams by connecting and supporting them with 329 sport, 182 culture and 186 recreational programs in North Battleford, Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon and Yorkton. 25,000 CHILDREN IN DREAM BROKERS IN 14 Years DREAM BROKERS – AND THE – 842 SPORT, CULTURE AND RECREATION LONG TERM PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL EVENTS 8,015 DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY: TOTAL CONSULTATIONS WITH CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN 2019 AWARENESS AND FIRST INVOLVEMENT ACTIVE START 76 NEW PARTNERSHIPS WITH SASKATCHEWAN SPORT, CULTURE AND FUNDAMENTALS RECREATION ORGANIZATIONS LEARN TO TRAIN TRAIN TO TRAIN 4,219 TOTAL CONSULTATIONS WITH PARENTS TRAIN TO COMPETE AND CAREGIVERS IN 2019 6 GIVE KIDS A CHANCE CHARITY INC. 2019 ANNUAL REPORT DREAM BROKERS HELPS ENHANCE SPORT ACROSS SASKATCHEWAN By connecting youth with sport-for- The opportunity Dream Brokers development programs and other provides for students to get involved culturally meaningful grassroots in sport at an earlier age and learn activities, Dream Brokers is able to the required skills also creates a enhance the entire sport, culture and broader pool of talented youth to recreation system in Saskatchewan by select from and who will pursue increasing the number of participants sport at a higher level. actively engaged in existing programs. The university offers the opportunity for students to study semesters abroad, to gain another perspective of studying and experiencing another way of learning. Before I started my student career, I wanted to do a semester abroad. I have been in New Zealand for work and travel after high school, and already on the flight back to Germany I was 100% sure I wanted to gain another abroad experience, as there are so many possibilities to learn, improve and experience for both work and life in general through living in another country and culture. DHBW Stuttgart has connections to several universities in the world. I collected lots of information, talked with people, and figured out a list of countries I would like to go to, as well which are affordable. After a while, it was decided that I will go in my fourth semester to Saskatoon, Canada. As a look to the map shows, Saskatoon is in the middle of nowhere, in the province Saskatchewan. The province is three times as big as Germany, so it has a lot to explore.
