However, to date, there is a dearth of high quality evidence upon which to conduct talent identification practice. This thesis represents the preliminary stages in the validation of a talent identification model for cricket. The thesis contains six chapters (four empirical), which examine varying methodological approaches to talent identification, and present initial evidence (cross sectional and longitudinal) of those attributes that may be related to elite success.

Achievement Award for 2010 The first of the three categories was the Young Coach of the Year and this was awarded to A l e x Szepietowski, a UKCC2 Coach from Esher CC. The final award was for Outstanding Alex coaches the U7 age group. He has been involved with the club since he was U7 and now Contribution and Services to Cricket opens the batting for 1st XI and is described as a Coaching and this was awarded to Duncan true club man. He is totally committed to Pauline of Esher CC. Duncan has over 30 coaching, working in group and 1-2-1 settings years of experience working as a coach at and doing whatever it takes to ensure the Esher CC where he has overall responsibility children he is working with develop whilst having for the coaching programme which involves fun. some 340 young people. He is responsible for planning and organising the weekly coaching sessions. In 2008 Duncan suffered a life threatening Alex Szepietowski illness which led to weeks in intensive care of Esher CC receives his award but despite this he has returned to undertake from Surrey’s Alec a full range of coaching activities at the Stewart club.
