Alex Marinelli won his third straight 165-pound conference title, and Spencer Lee defended his 125-pound championship. Jaydin Eierman and Michael Kemerer became first-time Big Ten champions, leading Iowa to its second straight and 37th Big Ten Conference title. The team title is Iowa’s second in as many years and the 37th in program history. The Hawkeyes 35.5 point margin of victory is the largest by a conference champion since the 2010 Hawkeyes won by 37 points. “We’re going to St. Louis in less than two weeks. That’s really where their heads are. That’s where my head is,” said Iowa head coach Tom Brands. “You talk about performance, let’s do it again. (Someone) mentioned finishing at your seed or performing above your expectations, and that’s what competitors do. Let’s do it in St. Louis.” INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONS Lee surrendered the first takedown of the 125-pound title bout but went on to outscore Purdue’s Devin Schroder, 21-1, over the next four minutes. He led 11-3 by the end of the first period and terminated the match leading 21-3 with 30 seconds left in the second.

The Nittany Lions and Sun Devils will meet in sold out Rec Hall on Friday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m. in a dual that will air live nationally on ESPN2. Arizona State has made a trip to Happy Valley, however, competing in the BJC in the National Duals. All rankings listed are InterMat/InterMat TPI as of Dec. 11. Penn State is coming off a pair of dual victories two weekends ago. The Nittany Lions won nine of ten bouts in a 42-3 win at Bucknell on Nov. 30, the first-ever trip for Penn State at Lewisburg. The dual was wrestled in front of a Bucknell wrestling-record crowd of 4.279, the third-largest in Stojka Pavilion history. Two days later, the Nittany Lions shut-out No. 10 Lehigh 42-0, winning all ten bouts against the short-handed Mountain Hawks in front of yet another Rec Hall sellout crowd. Penn State got ranked wins from Mark Hall at 174, Bo Nickal at 197 and Anthony Cassar at 285. The Nittany Lions sport a balanced and talented line-up: Sophomore Devin Schnupp is 4-3 at 125, having won his last two dual outings.

Lehigh crowned four individual SPORTS COMMUNICATIONS champions and placed all 10 EIWA entrants in the top five of their respective weight classes. Leading the way for the Lehigh contingent is senior Jordan Wood, the No. 8 seed at 285, who recently won his fourth Director, Communications (Wrestling SID) . Steve Lomangino individual EIWA title. He will battle for a spot on the 2018 U.S. World Team in men’s freestyle at Final X at Lehigh on Saturday, June 23. The event will be hosted at Stabler Arena on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., starting at 7 p.m. EST with exclusive live and on-demand coverage on FloWrestling, as well as on the FloSports apps on iOS, Roku and Apple TV 4. In his first Senior World Championships appearance, Gwiazdowski on a bronze medal at the 2017 World Championships in Paris, France. He was a 2017 U.S. Open champion. Gwiazdowski was a two- time NCAA champion and three-time finalist for NC State. As a freshman, he was an NCAA All- American for Binghamton. He won his NCAA titles for the Wolfpack in 2014 and 2015. He was a two- time New York state champion for Duanesburg High School.
