NANCY FABIOLA HERRERA – Mezzo Nancy Fabiola Herrera has achieved great acclaims by public and critics all over the world. The beauty of her voice, her outstanding musicality and commanding stage presence make the Spanish mezzo one of the most relevant artists of the opera scene today. She has received the Ópera Actual 2018 Award for her outstanding international career and in 2007 she has been the recipient of the "Best Zarzuela Singer" award presented by the Fundación Premios Liricos Teatro Campoamor, for her performance in Ruperto Chapí's La Bruja. Carmen is undoubtedly Nancy Herrera´s signature role. She has performed her hypnotic portrayal at Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, Bolshoi Theatre, New National Theatre in Tokyo, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Munich Bayerische Staatsoper, Opera di Roma, Dresden Semperoper, Opera Australia in Melbourne and in Sydney, Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, Los Angeles Opera (where she received the Plácido Domingo Award for her performance of this role). In summer 2009 she opened the season at Arena di Verona as Carmen and was honored to perform Act IV of the opera with Plácido Domingo in his 40th Anniversary Gala at Arena. She is a regular guest at Metropolitan Opera in New York, where she had great success as Herodias in Salome, and also as Fenena in Nabucco and Maddalena in Rigoletto. Other roles that Nancy Herrera has successfully performed include Charlotte in Werther (Opera de Oviedo), Giovanna Seymour in Anna Bolena (Liceu de Barcelona), Giulietta in Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Paris and Seattle), Adalgisa in Norma (Montpellier), Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte (Toulon, Tokyo), Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Philadelphia, Buffalo, Sabadell, México and Uruguay), Sara in Roberto Devereaux (Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow), Eboli in Don Carlo (Madrid). Cecilia in Las Golondrinas (Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid), Dalila in Samson et Dalila (Oviedo). She has worked with many of the world´s leading conductors, such as James Conlon, Daniel Oren, Fabio Luisi, Gustavo Dudamel, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Eugene Kohn, Plácido Domingo, Jesús López Cobos, George Pehlivanian, Philippe Jordan, Emmanuel Villaume, Karel Chichon, among others. She has also worked with many leading orchestras, including Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony, Mariinsky Orchestra, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, and almost all of the Spanish symphonic ensembles. She performed Gala concerts with Plácido Domingo and she has presented many recitals, also in Vienna at Musikverein. Her recital work included a tour thorough Spain and Colombia with her new program “Cabaret Nights” next to pianist Mac Maclure and the one woman show "Gitanas", that has been seen also in Madrid at Teatro de La Zarzuela. Nancy Herrera’s discography includes her latest álbum "Ensueños" with some of the most beautiful spanish and french melodies, but also the recordings of La Bruja by Chapí for Deutsche Grammophon, Dante by Granados for ASV, Robert Gerhard’s Tonades of the XVII & XVIII century for Columna Musica, Mahler´s 3rd Symphony for Arte Nova, de Falla’s El Amor Brujo for Naxos and Concierto Italiano by Ricardo Llorca. Her role debut as Rosario in Granados’ Goyescas with London BBC under the baton of Josep Pons has been recorded and ity will be realesed soon. She has also two DVDs to her credit - the opera Il Postino by Daniel Catán and the zarzuela Luisa Fernanda both alongside Plácido Domingo.
