  • Elisha Wiesel, Son of the Late Elie Wiesel, to Speak May 3Rd
Elisha Wiesel, son of the late Elie Wiesel, to speak May 3rd Adas Yeshurun Herzlia Congregation is pleased to announce that the fourth annual Distinguished Lecturer Series will present Elisha Wiesel on Monday, May 3rd at 7:00 pm via Zoom. Mr. Wiesel will relate his personal experiences growing up in the home of the pre-eminent Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel for the first time to a Canadian audience. Elisha Wiesel is the only child of Holocaust survivor, author, professor, and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Elie Wiesel z”l and Austrian Holocaust survivor and translator Marion Erster Rose Wiesel. He was raised in a Zionist home that blended the Chassidishe world his father grew up in and the modern intellectual world of New York City. Wiesel studied at the modern Orthodox Ramaz School on the Upper East Side, earned a BSc in computer science at Yale, and joined Goldman Sachs as an IT engineer in 1994. Raised by parents who strongly believed in social justice for the oppressed, philanthropy was a constant thread in his life. His efforts have included Good Shepherd Services for disadvantaged youth; Wall Street fundraisers that brought in millions of dollars to benefit NYC non-profit agencies. After his father’s passing in July 2016, Elisha retired as Chief Information Officer at Goldman Sachs and turned his efforts to a variety of philanthropic causes, most recently Zioness, a Zionist organization for progressive American Jews. In late 2020 he joined Israeli fintech company The Floor as Chairman. A married father of two teenagers, he spends time with his family at their homes in Connecticut and the Catskills enjoying hobbies that range from music to Torah study.

  • ELISHA WIESEL an Evening with Elie Wiesel's
SAVE THE DATE! MEMORIES OF MY FATHER - ELISHA WIESEL An Evening with Elie Wiesel’s Son Adas Yeshurun Herzlia’s 4th Annual Distinguished Lecturer Series keynote speaker will be Elisha Wiesel, who will appear via Zoom on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 7:00 pm. Elisha is the only child of Elie z”l and Marion Wiesel. He was born and raised in New York where he attended the modern orthodox Yeshiva Ramaz on the Upper East Side. His early interests in computer programming were such that at one point he self-described as a “geek”. He initially studied history and literature at Yale. However, one day he noticed a computer programming student who seemed to be having a much better time at university than he was. Elisha changed programs and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. After graduating from Yale in 1994, Elisha took a position with Goldman Sachs, and stayed with them for his entire career. He became a Managing Director and, in 2017, Chief Information Officer for the Company. Several years after his father's passing, Elisha retired from Goldman Sachs at the end of 2019. His varied interests include politics (he volunteered on Michael Bloomberg’s presidential campaign), heavy metal music, human rights, and the lessons of the Holocaust. His father was renowned for bearing witness to the Holocaust and encouraging people to stand up against indifference. Elisha travelled widely with his father and notes that since everyone knew who his father was, people had expectations of him. However, his own father expected only two things: that he would marry Jewish and that he would recite kaddish for him.
