2018 Florida Gators Track & Field 2018 FLORIDA GATORS TRACK & FIELD 9 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS | 110 INDIVIDUAL NATIONAL TITLES | 27 SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS Reigning Back-to-Back NCAA Outdoor Champions • Florida’s men claimed their second consecutive victory at NCAA Outdoors last June, also tying them with Arkansas (1992-2000) for the longest streak of top-3 finishes at the meet (9) by a men’s program since 1956. • Of the Gators’ 61.5 points scored at NCAA Outdoors, 56.5 were individual, and athletes responsible for 39.5 of those individual points are back this year. KeAndre Bates (20) and Grant Holloway (18) combined for 38. • A third consecutive title would make the Gators the first program to win three straight at NCAA Outdoors since Texas A&M did so from 2009-11. UTEP (1978-82) and Arkansas (1992-99) are the only other programs since 1975 to win three in a row. 2018 SCHEDULE • Another NCAA Outdoors title would be the Gators’ fifth all time, joining them INDOOR with Arkansas (10) as the only other program to win five since 1980. January 6 Orange & Purple Classic Clemson, S.C. SEC Outdoors SWEEP January 12-13 Commodore Invitational Nashville, Tenn. • Florida’s men and women swept the SEC Outdoor Championships for January 19-20 Clemson Invitational Clemson, S.C. the first time in program history. January 26-27 Razorback Invitational Fayetteville, Ark. • Although it was the 11th sweep in meet history, the Gators’ sweep was just the fourth at SEC Outdoors since 1991. February 2 Bayou Bengal Invitational Baton Rouge, La. • The titles were the sixth SEC Outdoor crowns in program history for both February 9-10 Iowa State Classic Ames, Iowa the men and women. Tiger Paw Invitational Clemson, S.C. • Head coach Mike Holloway has coached 11 SEC Indoor and Outdoor February 16 UCS Invitational Winston-Salem, N.C. championship-winning teams (six men’s, five women’s) during his tenure, February 24-25 SEC Indoor Championships M: 3rd / W: 6th which began in 2003 for the men and 2008 for the women. March 9-10 NCAA Indoor Championships M: 1st / W: 4th Women Return to the Infield at NCAA Indoors • Florida’s women finished fourth at NCAA Indoors, marking their first team OUTDOOR poidum finish since the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships. David and Orji are the only women in the last five SEC WOMEN Outdoor Championships to post top-2 finishes in both horizontal jumps. Athlete Event Finish Elisabeth Bergh 1,500m 3rd (4:21.25) • Paired with her outdoor long jump personal record of 6.67 meters (21-10.75), David is Lloydricia Cameron Discus Throw 2nd (55.05m / 180-7) one of three collegians in history (Keturah Orji, Georgia; Trecia Smith, Pittsburgh) to Yanis David Long Jump 2nd (6.67m / 21-10.75) wind-legally triple jump 14.05+ meters and long jump 6.60+ meters. Triple Jump 2nd (14.05m / 46-1.25) • David put a scare into Orji at SEC Indoors, popping off a 14.11-meter (46-3.5) jump on her Amanda Froeynes Heptathlon 3rd (5,663 points) final attempt--making her the No. 7 performer on the indoor collegiate all-time top 10. Brandee’ Johnson 400 Hurdles 3rd (57.19) Orji bounded to 14.18 meters (46-6.25) on her last jump to reclaim the title. Taylor Manson 4x400 Relay 2nd (3:27.30) • David joined Florida alum Ciarra Brewer, the 2015 NCAA Indoor champion, as the only Sharrika Barnett 4x400 Relay other collegian triple jumper to make Orji win a conference or national title on her Nikki Stephens 4x400 Relay sixth jump. Prior to David’s runner-up finish of a mere 2.75 inches, no collegian had Taylor Sharpe 4x400 Relay come within a foot of Orji the past three seasons.

    DIVISION I 103 Outdoor Track and Field DIVISION I 2001 Championships OUTDOOR TRACK Highlights Volunteers Are Victorious: Tennessee used a strong performance from its sprinters to edge TCU by a point May 30-June 2 at Oregon. The Volunteers earned their third title with 50 points, as the championship-clinching point was scored by the 1,600-meter relay team in the final event of the meet. Knowing it only had to finish the event to secure the point to break the tie with TCU, Tennessee’s unit passed the baton careful- ly and placed eighth. Justin Gatlin played the key role in getting Tennessee into position to win by capturing the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Gatlin was the meet’s only individual double winner. Sean Lambert supported Gatlin’s effort by finishing fourth in the 100. His position was another important factor in Tennessee’s victory, as he placed just ahead of a pair of TCU competitors. Gatlin and Lambert composed half of the Volunteers’ 400-meter relay team that was second. TCU was led by Darvis Patton, who was third in the 200, fourth in the long jump and sixth in the 100.
