Excellent, most enjoyable readBy Michael SerranoI really enjoyed this story very much. Hamilton has an uncanny way of making events play out as if we [the reader} are finding things out as Matt Helm does at the same time. You read the book and think you know or can guess what is going to happen, but often times more often than not it doesn't. This time Helm is mourning the loss of a girlfriend when he gets assigned a case to "marry" a woman scientist he is suppose to be protecting. Events happen that don't make sense to Helm, but he follows his orders anyway. Traveling with the woman "blushing bride" Helm is followed by more than one person. The "bride" does not seem to be who she presents herself to be. The Shadowers, represent a group of agents who "shadow" a person/persons in order to assassinate them at the time needed to carry out a nefarious plot. The people following Helm seem to have their own agenda, making it hard for Helm to know who's who they say they are, and who's the shadower. An excellent, fun, quick read, I look forward to the next Matt Helm adventure.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Best of a great seriesBy Hugh AI was a huge fan of Donald Hamilton's Matt Helm series when they were first published oh so many years ago by Gold Medal. I am delighted to note that the material has held up so well. Even the Russians are cooperating by becoming our adversaries once again. There's a Tom Clancy blurb on the cover of each volume of the series. "A real world with a real character." I have no quarrel with Mr. Clancy's opinion but if you're looking for the military techno-geek stuff that characterized Red October and its many sequels, you won't find it in Hamilton's series. Helm is proficient with guns, a special pocket knife (but one with no trick blades), and his fists. His usual mission is to kill and he's good at it. I have written in previous reviews the books are hard-boiled spy novels, more Hammett than Fleming. As was the case with most Gold Medal books, the are short by today's doorstop standards and meant to be read in one or two sittings or on a long plane trip. Start with the first in the series, Death of a Citizen, and read them all. You won't regret it.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Hamilton is really great reading for hard reality spy fans, in fact a mustBy Alan C.Not as complicated as the ambushers, so only 4 star ,but its Hamilton,so it is good ,really good.more influence of raymond Chandler, less Hamitt. But any real fan should enjoy this book. A brand-new edition of the classic novel. In order to foil a mass assassination plot, Matt Helm must undertake his most dangerous mission: matrimony. An agent like Helm might be a nice man to live with for a while, be he’s not the kind a woman would marry. Unless she has too. Unless it’s all part of maintaining an ingenious cover. The man whose daily bread is violence takes a most unlikely bride - just to make sure death doesn’t part them. About the AuthorDonald Hamilton is the creator of Matt Helm, star of 27 novels that have sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. He was born in Uppsala, Sweden, attended the University of Chicago, and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. His writing career began in 1946 with short stories for Collier's and The Saturday Evening Post. His first novel was Date With Darkness, published in 1947, and altogether he published 38 novels. The first Matt Helm novel, Death of a Citizen, was originally published in 1960, at the height of the Cold War. Hyperobjectifijaculation The Silencers (1966), Directed by Phil Karlson By Fearless Young Orphan Last time we discussed the ultimate cold war spy film, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, typically listed among the greatest spy films made to date. Let’s not let quality go to our heads. This time around, we’re going to dive headfirst into the polar opposite, which is such an overbearing farce that I’m not sure it should be mentioned by title in the same paragraph, for fear of offending the movie gods. Matt Helm is actually the secret agent from a series of espionage novels by Donald Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton’s books were of a serious nature, so who knows what he thought when the rights were purchased and the franchise turned into a sleazy sex-romp. I hope he was just pleased with the money; he did, after all, go on to write a couple dozen more books in the series. Released almost simultaneously with Our Man Flint in 1966, The Silencers represents the ugly extreme of James Bond spoofing. Three more films follow in the series: Murderer’s Row, The Ambushers, and The Wrecking Crew. I understand that this is the “best” of the four, but that’s sort of like saying “That was the best case of stomach flu I’ve ever suffered.” The Silencers is not clever enough to even be called a spoof in my opinion; I’d consider it closer to being a spy nerd’s dirty dream. Basically it takes any concept of actual secret agents and skips it for the sake of showing as many gorgeous women as it possibly can, in various states of undress.

© Copyright 2012 Walt Missingham ‘THE WRECKING CREW’ The Forgotten Bruce Lee Movie Written by Walt Missingham The Wrecking Crew, released in 1969 and starring Dean Martin, Elke Sommer, Nancy Kwan and Sharon Tate is the fourth and final film in a series of American comedy-spy-fi theatrical releases featuring Martin as secret agent Matt Helm. As with the previous three Helm spy movies (The Silencers, Murderers' Row, and The Ambushers), it is based only loosely upon Donald Hamilton's 1960 novel of the same title and takes great liberties with the plot and characters, being developed as a spoof of the James Bond films. The Wrecking Crew was the second Helm novel published and the earliest of the books to be adapted. This was the last film of Tate's to be released before her murder at the hands of Charles Manson's followers on August 9, 1969. © Copyright 2012 Walt Missingham Bruce Lee coaching Nancy Kwan and Sharon Tate Not known by many is that the film featured a virtual who’s who of American martial arts royalty with Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, Ed Parker and Bruce Lee all appearing in the film. Bruce Lee was engaged as the martial arts choreographer for the film and insisted on bringing in as many top martial arts exponents as he could. © Copyright 2012 Walt Missingham Joe Lewis squares off against Dean Martin As the film progressed it became obvious to Dean Martin as well as Producer Irving Allen and Director Phil Karlson that Lee’s skills and the martial arts in general should and would be an integral part of the next Mat Helm movie ‘The Ravagers’ Chuck Norris with Elke Summers and Dean Martin © Copyright 2012 Walt Missingham Bruce Lee was choreographer for the fight scenes but also doubled for Dean Martin in all the fights.
