Piemonte Doc Brachetto VS DOLCE Piemonte doc brachetto VS DOLCE Variety - Brachetto Region - Piedmont – Acqui Terme Acquesi only produces DOC and DOCG wines from the region of Piedmont. Soil Piedmont is a diverse region with many microclimates. Monferrato, in the Province of Asti, is one of the most famous grape-growing areas of Piedmont, and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Brachetto grows well here in soils consisting mainly of limestone, calcareous clay, and marine minerals. This results in wines with great structure and typical Brachetto fruit Winemaking & Metodo Martinotti Acquesi is produced using Metodo Martinotti in which the brief secondary fermentation takes place in large vats, preserving all the natural aromas. The must goes through a cold fermentation to achieve the proper balance of flavor, aroma, fruit, and delicate perlage. History In 1895, the Italian oenologist Federico Martinotti, from the Province of Asti, invented the world famous method for sparkling wine based on controlled fermentation in large vats. 20 miles away and a little over 50 years later, Acquesi was founded in Acqui Terme, Piedmont in 1952. We have recently re-launched this brand with its iconic, Liberty Style design, dating back to the early 1900s from the city of Turin, Italy. Our unforgettable floral pattern symbolizes this period’s elegance and joy. Alcohol: 6.5% Tasting Notes & food pairings This Brachetto has an enticing deep rose color with an elegant perlage. The bouquet consists of raspberry, cherry, and delicate rose petals. A pleasant acidity complements the sweet flavor, matching perfectly with fresh cheeses, savory or spicy cuisine, and sexy chocolate desserts. Serve between 38-50° F / 5-10° C. Awards.

Invading Phoenicians, Greeks, Cathaginians, as well as native Etruscans and Romans left their imprints as did the Saracens, Visigoths, Normans, Austrian and Germans who succeeded them. As one of the world's top industrial nations, Italy offers a unique marriage of past and present, tradition blended with modern technology -- as exemplified by the Banfi winery and vineyard estate in Montalcino. Italy is 760 miles long and approximately 100 miles wide (150 at its widest point), an area of 116,303 square miles -- the combined area of Georgia and Florida. It is subdivided into 20 regions, and inhabited by more than 60 million people. Italy's climate is temperate, as it is surrounded on three sides by the sea, and protected from icy northern winds by the majestic sweep of alpine ranges. Winters are fairly mild, and summers are pleasant and enjoyable. NORTHWESTERN ITALY The northwest sector of Italy includes the greater part of the arc of the Alps and Apennines, from which the land slopes toward the Po River. The area is divided into five regions: Valle d'Aosta, Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna. Like the topography, soil and climate, the types of wine produced in these areas vary considerably from one region to another. This part of Italy is extremely prosperous, since it includes the so-called industrial triangle, made up of the cities of Milan, Turin and Genoa, as well as the rich agricultural lands of the Po River and its tributaries.

(2020/C 32/10) This communication is published in accordance with Article 17(5) of Commission (1) Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/33 COMMUNICATING THE APPROVAL OF A STANDARD AMENDMENT ‘Brachetto d’Acqui / ACQUI’ Reference number: PDO-IT-A1382-AM04 Date of communication: 25 September 2019 DESCRIPTION OF AND REASONS FOR THE APPROVED AMENDMENT 1. Description of the wines Description and reasons For ‘Brachetto d’Acqui’ or ‘Acqui’ still and sparkling wines, the minimum total acidity has been changed from 5 g/l to 4.5 g/l. For the sparkling wine (Spumante), the minimum sugar-free extract has been reduced from 18 g/l to 17 g/l. Reasons: Changes in climate conditions have affected the phenological stages and grape ripening which often occurs early, in addition to which the acidity of the must and therefore of the wines obtained from it, is reduced. It was thus considered appropriate to reduce the minimum total acidity by 0.5 g/l. The reduction of the sugar-free extract by one gram per litre constitutes a formal amendment, in relation to the official method, to the previous value for the minimum net dry extract. This amendment concerns section 1.4 of the Single Document and Article 6 of the Product Specification.

  • Italy's Killer
ITALY ’S KILLER B’S Italian wines can be downright confusing. To make matters even more confusing, many of them have similar sounding names. Such is the case with the five wines we’ll explore in this presentation: Barbera, Brunello di Montalcino, Barbaresco, Barolo, and Brachetto d’Acqui. Three of these wines – Brunello, Barbaresco, and Barolo – have been colloquially referred to by wine writers as the “Killer B’s”, owing to the fact that they all begin with the letter “B” and are considered by many to be Italy’s finest red wines. For the purposes of this presentation we are also including two other B’s: Barbera and Brachetto – wines that don’t always get as much respect but which, as you’ll see, can be interesting and delicious in their own right. In addition to sharing an alliterative connection, there are other similarities between these wines. To begin with, they’re all made from red grapes. And they all come to us from Northern Italy. Four of the five are produced in the Piedmont (Piemonte) region, while the fifth comes from Tuscany. The best of examples of these wines also tend to be somewhat acidic, which makes them a natural pairing with food. Just as in France and Spain, In Italy it would be unusual to sit and drink wine by itself. Wine is considered a beverage that is almost always served with a meal. The natural acidity causes salivation, which in turn stimulates the Figure 1. Piedmont and Tuscany are each approximately 9,000 appetite. square miles in size, or roughly 1/10 the area of Minnesota.
