As an organization and horse community, the loss of Christine Brown is a terrible thing. She gave tirelessly her time, energy and ideas to MSEDA for many, many years, and having served with her on the board and many committees, I know that first hand. I would venture to guess there aren’t many of our members who don’t know Christine on some level and I bet you all remember that amazing smile that seemed to always grace her face. But this is also a tremendously person - al loss to me as she was one of my very best friends. For the last 10 years she has been my go-to person for just about everything – she hosted my bridal shower and both of my baby showers at her beautiful home, she helped me through the loss of my broth - er 4 years ago, she was there when I sold my beloved Peak, when I had my beautiful babies, gave me unending training and teach - ing advice – pretty much anything that happened to me the last 10 years, Christine was there with that gorgeous smile and conta - gious laughter. I know there are many, many people grieving the loss of this amazing woman, but I am so lucky to have shared such a big part of my life with her and I can say without a doubt that I’m a better person for having had her as my dear friend. These pictures this month are from last fall, from a trip we took to the zoo (one of her favorite places to go) with the kids. Memories like these remind me that Christine lived her life to the very fullest, finding joy and fun in everything she did. I would encourage all of you to try to find the simple joys in life and let go of the small things – life is precious and far too short, so enjoy every minute you’ve got. He’ll be shipping Absolute Liberty and The Apprentice from his base in Riegelsville, Pa. Davidson made the cross-country journey to the Galway Downs CCI3* in 2011 and 2012, enticed by the ease of the trip. His horses will load on a plane in Baltimore and fly nonstop to Ontario, Calif., slightly more than an hour north of Galway Downs. “So it’s really not much harder than going to any other three-day event on the East Coast,” said Davidson. “They leave home in the morning, and I can ride them at the event that afternoon.” Equine Insurance of California, Land Rover, Professional’s Choice, California Horse Trader and the PRO Tour are the Presenting Sponsors of the Galway Downs International Three-Day Event. The East Coast contingent consists of more than just Davidson’s horses, though. He first competed in the sport of Eventing in 1962, since then Brian has been a big part of Eventing and the equestrian world, from being a leading rider to designing and building the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Eventing show jumping course, as well as coaching Vaulting and Eventing Young Riders programs. He is a highly respected trainer, and a faculty member of the USEA Instructors Certification Program. Brian worked with Gina Miles and “McKinlaigh”, who won the individual Silver Medal in the 2008 Olympics.     National Youth Congress and Academy of Achievement 2020 Yearbook Ann Haller, a Graduate H-A from Hood Pony Club gave an enormous amount of time and energy to USPC through various levels of involvement. Throughout her 25+ year involvement Ann served as an instructor, clinician, coach, National Examiner, Chief Horse Management Judge, member of the USPC Eventing and Horse Management Committees, and as a member of the USPC Board of Governors and Advisory Committee. She was honored as an Academy of Achievement inductee in 2006 and took over as Chair of the NYC Committee in 2011. Ann remained involved with the program until her passing as she was a consummate advocate for, and mentor to our youth and firmly believed in the leadership skills that this program embraces. In Memoriam: Ann Haller Mrs. Ann Rickard Haller passed away August 25, 2019 in Manassas, VA at the age of 56. She was born Sept 2, 1962 at Fort Benning, GA to the late Col. Daniel Rickard and Meta Stuart Fooks Rickard. Ann is survived by her mother, Meta Fooks Rickard of Columbus, GA; her brothers Paul Rickard (Brooke) of Midland, GA and Col. Tom Rickard (Elizabeth) of Ft. Meade, MD; her aunts Mary Alice "Tuke" Shoemaker of Belton,TX and Mary Bolling Fooks Whittemore of Falmouth, ME; and her uncles Robert Fooks (Peggy) of Norfolk, VA and James Rickard (Kay) of Traverse City, MI. Ann was preceded in death by her late husband Mr. Roger Haller and by her father Col. Daniel Rickard. Ann's love of horses and her involvement in the equestrian world began at the age of eight with the assistance of her aunt, Tuke Shoemaker, who introduced Ann to Pony Club.
