Briefing Note on Lancashire County Council's Supported Bus Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Briefing Note on Lancashire County Council's Supported Bus Services during the COVID-19 Pandemic With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, customers are required to check with bus and rail operators before travelling due to disruption caused by staff absences and the requirement not to travel unless it is essential There is already disruption to rail services, and many bus operators in Lancashire introduced reduced timetables from Monday 23 March and further reductions being introduced by this weekend. It is recommended to check bus operator's websites for the latest position with their services. The county's major bus operators are shown below: Arriva North West - https://www.arrivabus.co.uk/north-west/ Blackpool Transport - https://www.blackpooltransport.com/ Pilkington Bus - http://pilkingtonbus.com/ Rotala Preston Bus - http://www.prestonbus.co.uk/ Stagecoach – https://www.stagecoachbus.com/ Transdev - https://www.transdevbus.co.uk/ (The Blackburn Bus Company, The Burnley Bus Company & Rosso) With the current reduction in both customer demand and congestion, the tendered bus services are operating inefficiently with excess spare time usually taken up by weekday traffic levels. Our service providers are confident they currently have staff resources available to maintain the tendered bus network, however we will still need to introduce a number of revisions to enable continued provision as best as possible should this quickly change. Continued….. From Monday 30th March 2020 until further notice, the county council tendered bus services will be revised to operate as follows: Lancaster District Service PR1: Lancaster Caton Road & City Centre Park & Ride This service will be temporarily suspended. Whilst the car park will remain open, the service will not operate.
