New York, NY (October 1, 2014) – The 10th Anniversary of Circle of Sisters, presented by AARP in association with AT&T and Della Russo, is a weekend not to be missed as it’s the largest EXPO in New York City uniting, motivating and celebrating women of color. The event takes place Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Jacob Javits Center, 34th Street and 11th Avenue.
“We have singers, entertainers, reality stars, celebrity chefs; fitness, finance, health experts and more,” says Deon Levingston, Vice President/General Manager of Emmis New York. “But, it doesn’t just stop there: we will feature a fashion show, R&B and Gospel Concerts, Cooking & Kids Pavilions and a Man Cave – something for everyone who wants to be entertained!”
The main stage will host unique panels with R&B Veterans including Grammy Award- winning Recording Artist Faith Evans, Grammy-nominated R&B Singer-Songwriter, Actor and Author Tyrese Gibson and Grammy winning-artist Johnny Gill; a host of Reality TV stars and a few dashing celebrities couples such as Niecy Nash & Jay Tucker, Rebecca & Terry Crews, and Tamela & David Mann.
“It’s our tenth anniversary and it’s all about celebrating and sharing knowledge with our community. Our list of exciting and informative speakers are the best in the business. We will discuss everything from health, finance, and relationships to cooking and even today’s reality TV,” adds Cynthia Smith, Assistant Program Director of WBLS/WLIB. “It’s a community event and our community is able to enjoy a fun-filled weekend that’s still a value.”
This year ladies can bring their husbands and boyfriends to hang out in the HOT 97 Man Cave, made HOT by SIG headphones in association with Della Russo, and compete in gaming tournaments, receive men’s health information and screenings, see performances and even hang out for Sunday Football! From the Man Cave to LA Hair’s Expert Kim Kimble, Fashions by Project Runway’s Korto Momolu, Author Zane and Pastor Taffi Dollar, there’s something for all.
Saturday night’s R&B concert will feature Faith Evans, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Tyrese, Johnny Gill and Mary Mary and an After Party with Doug E. Fresh. Sunday kicks off with a worship service with Bishop Hezekiah Walker, follow by the State of Black America: It’s A Journey for Black Men panel featuring NYC Police Chief Philip Banks, III, Hill Harper, Havoc and Roland S. Martin.
