EXPOSICIÓN DE MOTIVOS Con el sueño desvanecido de fama en el Mundo del Baloncesto Femenino, Carla Cortijo ahora tiene que enfrentar el resultado negativo de unas acciones administrativas por parte de la Federación de Baloncesto de Puerto Rico. Luego de una serie de eventos ocurridos en las pasadas semanas, lamentablemente la armadora nacional tuvo una alegada salida abrupta del equipo de Atlanta Dream en la Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) tras no recibir autorización de la Federación de Baloncesto de Puerto Rico para firmar. Nacida en San Juan pero residente de Carolina desde temprana edad, Cortijo se ha destacado como una de las jugadoras de mayor renombre en el baloncesto femenino local. Desde el 2009 milita con las Gigantes de Carolina, quinteto que ha conquistado cuatro cetros nacionales en los pasados 5 años. Además, fue la armadora titular de la Selección Nacional boricua que se alzó con la medalla de oro por primera vez en los Juegos Panamericanos y del Caribe 2011, venciendo al anfitrión equipo de México.
