NEWSLETTER 01 – JANUARY 2016

• 2015 SEASON REVIEW: The past season brought us great satisfaction. The starring race cars were the in the HGPCA (Formula 1 cars up until 1965); the in the U2TC (under 2 litre touring cars), Masters pre '66 TC (touring cars up to 1966) and Mini Festival (dedicated to any kind of mini); the Ford Mustang in the Masters pre '66 TC; the Chevron B6 in FIA Historic Masters Sports Cars (FIA championship for sports cars from 1962 to 1974) and the Lotus Elan Shapecraft 26R spec. racing in the fantastic 6 hours of Spa (touring cars and GT up until 1965).

The Lotus 21, with Federico, raced in Pau and Spa. "Virgin" on both tracks, our pilot has behaved very well, bringing home two excellent results.

At Pau, between the guardrails of the , he got a great 9th overall and 3rd in class in race 1 and 5th overall and 3rd in class in race, improving from time to time his performance.

At Spa, one of the toughest circuits of the championship, with a grid of some 50 race cars, Federico ranked 27th overall and 6th in class in the first race, while in the second race he gain two positions and finished 25th overall keeping 5th place in class.

Andrea, with his always beautiful Mini, took part in two races of the U2TC (Dijon and Silverstone), the Mini Festival (Brands Hatch) and 3 races of the Masters pre ’66 TC (Silverstone, Spa and Dijon).

In Dijon, in the U2TC race it was second on the grid, but the breaking of the alternator belt forced him to retire.

Closed parenthesis of Dijon, we went across the channel, with Brands Hatch as first stop. It was the first time for Andrea at this circuit, according to the British one of Britain's most beautiful circuits. And Andrea confirmed it. There was a cup, dedicated to the fastest non-British driver (or nicknamed the immigrants trophy). Andrea wanted it, so it got in the car gave the best of himself and won the trophy .. A fantastic race and a wonderful drive.

Silverstone, here he was racing in both U2TC and Masters. The rain was the star of the weekend, but Andrea showed off his driving skills finishing 5th class in dell'U2TC race and 2nd in class (and 4th overall, ahead of Jaguar and Lotus) in both races of the Masters Jet Battle of Britain.

Spa, one of his favourite circuits, saw him star in a thrilling race with another Mini, driven by professional racing driver Eric Helary who had the upper hand in the last two laps. 2nd in class, very good anyway

Dijon, round 2! The French circuit does not like us. While Andrea was running steady second in class, he had problems with the gearbox bolts coming loose, forcing him to a long .

He manages to join the race again, but now the time had passed, but still managed to get an excellent 3rd place in class

Michael Schryver, in the Chevron B6, raced in two circuits: Monza (Masters) and Silverstone (HSCC). At Monza he shared the car with his son William, getting an excellent 2nd place in class.

At Silverstone, sharing the car with Simon Hadfiled, they finished the race, in the pouring rain, with a fantastic 3rd place overall.

Michael, raced also in the tough 6 hours of Spa with his Lotus Elan Shapecraft. The 6 hours of Spa is a lottery. 6 hours in which anything can happen!! The driving was split between Michael, his son William and Joe Twyman. It was the most important race. Personally I did it 4 times, all 4 looking after Michael. All four times something has happened that forced us to retire. This time should not have happened. We had to finish it !! Our class was one of the toughest, with 3 other Lotus Elan equally competitive. The race was tough, pouring rain that only in Spa can be found. Safety car, accidents, flags .. everything happened but we did not give up ... and yes, we won it!! 11th overall and 1st in class !! The icing on the cake of a fantastic season

Finally Enrico, with his Ford Mustang, between a customer and another managed to compete in two races of the Masters pre '66 TC. Monza (the home race) and Dijon. At Monza, after huge problems with the brakes in qualifying, he managed to bring home an excellent 2nd place overall.

In Dijon, the last race of the season, everything went well. In fact he brought us home the overall victory that so we waited for. 1st place, fullstop

• PRESS REVIEW: We want to remind you the article on Ruoteclassiche (2015 February issue) about the GTA 50th anniversary. On track, with the road version of the 1.6l GTA from the Alfa Romeo Museum, there was also Federico’s racing version, prepared and looked after by us here at RS Historics. A very interesting day, having the privilege to listen to tales and drive a GTA around Monza in the sunset!
