Klju čne rije či: Černobil, Pripjat, Zona isklju čenja, nuklearna katastrofa, mra čni turizam SUMMARY Aim of this thesis was to present one of the specific forms of tourism named dark tourism. Chernobyl was chosen as an example, especially its Exclusion Zone, which is the site of the greatest technogenic catastrophe in history of mankind. Linked with the political situation of that age, it sends a message of deindividualization, which is the result of the communist regime in the former Soviet Union and also mercilessness of technology when it turns against man. In this thesis, theoretical background about dark tourism is given, including its types and specificities. With a growing number of tourists defined as dark tourists, number of visits to the Chernobyl is rising and has reached 10 000 visits per year. 30th anniversary of the nuclear catastrophe of Chernobyl's nuclear reactor number 4 was commemorated on 26th of April 2016. Result of the catastrophe was large quantity of radioactive particles expelled in the atmosphere in Pripyat, which was then part of the Soviet Union, and nowadays a part of Ukraine. Because of the high radiation levels, 30 kilometers perimeter was proclaimed the Exclusion Zone, however, radiation levels are low enough for short, monitored and privately organized visits. There are numerous tourist agencies and private guides in existence specialized in organizing one day or several day visits to the Exclusion Zone, which include visits to the nuclear power plant and cities of Chernobyl, Pripyat and nearby evacuated villages. Visitors come from all around the globe and especially from west European countries and the United States. Keywords: Chernobyl, Pripyat, Exclusion Zone, nuclear catastrophe, dark tourism SADRŽAJ 1. UVOD 1.1. 1 2. U 19. stolje ću, posjeti mrtva čnicama su bili sastavni dio turisti čkih ponuda Pariza, vjerojatno prete ča izložbi Body Worlds u Londonu, Tokyu, Los Angelesu i drugdje. Sli čno tome, povijesna prete ča promatranja "manje sretnih" ljudi, sli čni posjeti brazilskim

DISASTRI ED EROISMI NELL’ANTROPOCENE Capitolo 3 Capitolo 3 The exclusion zone di Marco Andretta, Riccardo Benevelli, Alessandra Buono, Letizia Mazzi, Francesco Rossano, Miguela Silva Schott A essere inquinata non è soltanto la nostra terra, ma anche la nostra coscienza. Svetlana Aleksievich 1.

  • Reading Chernobyl: Psychoanalysis, Deconstruction, Literature
Reading Chernobyl: Psychoanalysis, Deconstruction, Literature Stuart Lindsay Submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of Doctor of Philosophy Division of Literature and Languages University of Stirling 29th September 2014 Abstract This thesis explores the psychological trauma of the survivors of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, which occurred on April 26, 1986. I argue for the emergence from the disaster of three Chernobyl traumas, each of which will be analysed individually – one per chapter. In reading these three traumas of Chernobyl, the thesis draws upon and situates itself at the interface between two primary theoretical perspectives: Freudian psychoanalysis and the deconstructive approach of Jacques Derrida. The first Chernobyl trauma is engendered by the panicked local response to the consequences of the explosion at Chernobyl Reactor Four by the power plant’s staff, the fire fighters whose job it was to extinguish the initial blaze caused by the blast, the inhabitants of nearby towns and villages, and the soldiers involved in the region’s evacuation and radiation decontamination. Most of these people died from radiation poisoning in the days, weeks, months or years after the disaster’s occurrence. The first chapter explores the usefulness and limits of Freudian psychoanalytic readings of local survivors’ testimonies of the disaster, examining in relation to the Chernobyl event Freud’s practice of locating the authentic primal scene or originary traumatic witnessing experience in his subjects’ pasts, as exemplified by his Wolf Man analysis, detailed in his psychoanalytic study ‘On the History of an Infantile Neurosis’ (1918). The testimonies read through this Freudian psychoanalytic lens are constituted by Igor Kostin’s personal account of the disaster’s aftermath, detailed in his book Chernobyl: Confessions of a Reporter (2006), and by Svetlana Alexievich’s interviews with Chernobyl disaster survivors in her book Voices from Chernobyl: The Oral History of a Nuclear Disaster (2006).

ISBN 966-7853-10-5 In his new book - From Chernobyl to Fukushima - physicist and engineer Nikolay Karpan provides many earlier unknown facts on two major large-scale NPP accidents. With his long term practical experience of work at many different NPPs, including ten years of work at the Chernobyl NPP (1979 - 1989), Nikolay Karpan fully experienced all aspects of life of “liquidators of nuclear accidents”. The author provides an impressive accountof initial hours of these disasters and gives interesting analysis of these historical events. The description of contemporary state of international Chernobyl projects and his account how the Chernobyl tragedy was transformed into a farce will leave nobody indifferent. The events at Japanese Fukushima NPP are assessed from a professional point of view. For the first time the reader will see logical patterns in explosions of the Japanese reactors, associated with inadequate understanding of relations between the Man and the Nature with its mighty forces releasing in natural disasters. Safe nuclear reactors do not exist and they cannot exist, as in addition to high operational temperature and pressure they contain deadly radioactive loads that release to the environment far too often - every 15 years (four off-design accidents in 57 years of the global nuclear power industry’s history). The book is a major event as it is written by a professional physicist about extreme developments he experienced himself, the book written honestly, stingingly and without pathos.

FMB trustees focus on advance Baptist Press in East Europe, missions vision By Robert OpBrien 8/18/94 ALEXANDRIA, Va. (BP)--Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board trustees focused on plans for a major advance in missions in Eastern Europe, appointed 35 missionaries and dialogued with board leaders on a future vtsion for world missions at their Aug. 15-17 meeting. They also voted to commend the action, first by the Southern Baptist Convention and then by top Foreign Mission Board staff, to decline funds channeled through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Messengers attending the June 14-16 SBG meeting in Orlando, Fla., voted to direct convention agencies and institutions to cease receiving funds through Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. The CBF is an organization of Southern Baptist churches that oppose the convention's current conservative direction. Top Foreign Mission Board leaders quickly followed that vote with a decision to refuse, effective June 16, about $1.6 million a year designated for SBC foreign missions through the CBF.
