Pathologist- and Transfusion

The University of California (UC), Davis, School of Medicine seeks to hire a full‐time clinical pathologist at the Assistant Professor level either in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series or the Clinical X Series in the Department of and Laboratory Medicine. This position is a clinician‐educator, and as such includes clinical service, management review and education, and quality assurance. Occasional cross‐coverage for clinical service of other laboratory sections may be assigned, based on the successful candidate’s background and laboratory need. Collaborative participation in research that supports the department’s research mission is required. Teaching may include clinical, didactic, and multi‐disciplinary conferences. Small group teaching is common for housestaff, medical students, clinical laboratory science students, and practicing internal and external to the department.

Requirements: MD or MD/PhD, and be American Board of Pathology certified in as well as board certified, or eligible, in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. Experience in teaching and clinical service is required in one or more of the following areas: collections by apheresis (both autologous and allogeneic), therapeutic apheresis, transfusion medicine, and services. Experience in patient blood management with data collection/analytics and clinical translational research is preferred. Training or experience in informatics is highly desirable. The candidate must meet requirements for appointment as Assistant Professor either in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series or the Clinical X Series. California professional license or eligibility for licensure in California is required. Additionally, the successful candidate must have the ability to maintain a high level of service, work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment, and should exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with medical and technical staff, trainees, and others.
