    Changes to Driver Licence Sanctions in Your CLSD Region

    Changes to Driver Licence Sanctions in Your CLSD Region In 2020, Revenue NSW introduced a hardship program focused on First Nations people and young people. As a result, the use of driver licence sanctions for overdue fine debt changed on Monday 28th September 2020 in some locations. How are overdue fines and driver licence sanctions related? If a person has overdue fines, their driver licence may be suspended. The driver licence suspension may be removed if the person: • pays a lump sum to Revenue NSW, or • enters a payment plan with Revenue NSW, or • is approved for a WDO. A driver licence suspension can be applied for multiple reasons, so even after being told that a driver licence suspension for unpaid fines has been removed, people should always double check that it is OK to drive by contacting Service NSW. Driver licence restrictions can also be put on interstate licences and cannot be removed easily. If you have a client in this situation, they should get legal advice. What has changed? Now, driver licence sanctions will not be imposed as a first response to unpaid fines for enforcement orders that were issued on or after 28 September 2020 to First Nations people and young people who live in the target locations. What are the target locations? Locations that the Australian Bureau of Statistics classifies as: • very remote, • remote • outer regional, and • Inner regional post codes where at least 9% of the population are First Nations People. Included target locations on the South Coast are the towns of Batemans Bay, Bega, Bodalla, Eden, Eurobodalla, Mogo, Narooma, Nowra Hill, Nowra Naval PO, Merimbula, Pambula, Tilba and Wallaga Lake.

Water body mapping Inclusion of mapping showing sensitive water bodies and categorising waterways together with an associated water clause (Clause 7.6). SEPP 14 Wetlands not currently Changed to E2 Environmental Conservation zone zoned for environmental as per direction under NSW Government’s South protection. Coast Regional Plan. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL VACANCY Election of John Cameron Robertson The PRESIDENT: At a joint sitting held on 22 October 2008 John Cameron Robertson was elected to fill the vacancy in the Legislative Council caused by the resignation of the Hon. Michael Costa. PLEDGE OF LOYALTY The Hon. John Cameron Robertson took and subscribed the pledge of loyalty and signed the roll. REGISTER OF DISCLOSURES BY MEMBERS The President tabled, pursuant to the Constitution (Disclosures by Members) Regulation 1983, a copy of the Register of Disclosures by Members of the Legislative Council for the period 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008. Ordered to be printed on motion by the Hon. John Della Bosca. HMAS ALBATROSS SIXTIETH ANNIVERSARY Motion by the Hon. Don Harwin agreed to: That this House: (a) recognises that this year marks the sixtieth anniversary of the commissioning of HMAS Albatross at Nowra and the Royal Australian Navy Fleet Air Arm, (b) recognises the important role that HMAS Albatross plays in supporting the Navy's four air squadrons and the Navy Aviation Force Element Group, (c) congratulates the officers, sailors and personnel of HMAS Albatross, both past and present, on the excellent service they have given over the past six decades, (d) pays tribute to those personnel from HMAS Albatross that are currently performing peacekeeping, humanitarian and active duty roles, particularly in Operation Catalyst in Iraq, and (e) recognises the role that crews from HMAS Albatross play in police searches and major bushfire responses in the Shoalhaven, and their many other contributions to the local community.

    MEDIA RELEASE NSW OPPOSITION LEADER Friday, April 8, 2011 OPPOSITION LEADER ANNOUNCES NEW CABINET Opposition Leader John Robertson announced his shadow cabinet today – putting forward a mix of new faces and experience. "My team is fresh, energetic and ready to work," said Mr Robertson. "I have selected smart, talented people - determined to win back the trust of the people of NSW. "We are a smaller team but we will work twice as hard to hold the O'Farrell Government to account." Linda Burney will serve as Deputy Leader, Shadow Minister for Planning, Infrastructure and Heritage, Shadow Minister for Sport and Recreation, Shadow Minister for the Hunter and Shadow Minister for the Central Coast. "Linda Burney as Deputy Leader brings a wealth of experience, a passion for social justice and a strength of character I admire. "Linda's personal story is the very embodiment of what Labor stands for – that every person should have the opportunity to be the best they can be. "As Leader and Deputy Leader, Linda and I will also take on the regional shadow portfolios of the Hunter, Central Coast, Western Sydney and the Illawarra. "Michael Daley will take on the Treasury and Finance and Services portfolios; and unlike the Premier, I have full confidence in Michael to manage all issues relating to the State's budget and economy. "Of the 15 people in my team, seven are fresh faces – these new shadow cabinet members bring with them an energy, enthusiasm and commitment worthy of the task ahead," said Mr Robertson.
