PROF. SALVATORE SIRACUSANO

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES

Professor Salvatore Siracusano, born in Padua on 19 April 1960, obtained his high school diploma (specializing in classical studies) in 1978. In the same year he enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Messina where he attended as student the Institute of General Pathology.

From the third year of the degree course he moved to the University of Genoa where he attended the Urological Clinic of the University directed by Professor L. Giuliani and where, even before the degree, he carried out daily department and research activities that allowed him to prepare his final thesis.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Genoa on 24 July 1984 with flying colors, discussing the thesis: "The urodynamics of the upper urinary excretory tract", (Supervisor: Prof. L. Giuliani). At the same venue, he passed the medical licensing exam and obtained the license to practice the profession of doctor- surgeon on November 1984.

In the academic year 1983/1984 he was admitted to the Specialization School in Urology at the University of Genoa and for the academic years 1984/85 and 1985/86 he won the competition for a scholarship organized by the Liguria Region for doctors enrolled in Specialization Schools of Medicine and Surgery.

He carried out ongoing assistance activities at the Urological Clinic of Genoa from 25 July 1984 to 15 September 1986. From 16 September 1986 he followed Prof. Emanuele Belgrano at the Urological Clinic Institute at the University of Sassari where he immediately began the clinical activity (medical emergency – head of the Continence Office and the Urodynamics and Bladder rehabilitation Laboratory) performing urological surgeries as first operator.

In 1986 he was declared the winner of a scholarship, announced by the Orthopedic Clinic at the University of Brescia, for the study of Microsurgery.

On July 25, 1989 he obtained the Specialization in Urology degree at the University of Genoa with honors, discussing the thesis: "Ultrasound evaluation of vesicoureteral reflux in children" presented by Dr. Siracusano as oral communication during the S.I.E.U.N. Congress in 1988.

In November 1989 he was admitted to the Specialization School in Microsurgery and Experimental Surgery at the University of Pavia.

Starting from the academic year 1991/1992, he was appointed Adjunct Professor in the Specialization School in Urology at the University of Sassari where he carried out the course "Use of electrophysiological tests in neuro-urology" within the teaching of "Urological Clinic". The assignment was renewed for the academic years 1991/1992; 1992/1993; 1993/1994; 1994/1995.

In 1991 he carried out an internship in Germany at the Department of Urology of Monchengladbach and Homburg for the study of microsurgery and functional disorders of the lower urinary system respectively.

In 1992 he carried out an internship at the Urology Department at the University of San Francisco (USA) directed by Prof. E.A. Tanagho for the completion of a research project, funded by the Sardinia Region concerning the use of electrical stimulation in the diagnosis of urgency urinary incontinence that was published in the Proceedings of the Italian Society of Urodynamics and in the Archivos Espanoles de Urologia journal.

On 20 July 1992 he passed the exam of the European Board Examination in Urology and on 4 September of the same year he was appointed "Fellow of the European Board of Urology" by Prof. M. Camey, Chairman of the EBU and Prof. F.H. Schroder, Chairman of the Education Committee of the European Board of Urology.

On 18 February 1993 he obtained the Diploma of specialist in Microsurgery and Experimental Surgery at the University of Pavia with the score of 50/50 discussing the Thesis: "Radioimmunoguided surgery in the treatment of muscle-invasive bladder cancer: preliminary results" published in Proceedings of the European Society of Oncological Urology and subsequently awarded during the Congress of the Italian Society of Urology with the Medas prize as the 2nd best scientific contribution.

In 1993 he became Full Member of the European Association of Urology (E.A.U.).

In 1993, he carried out an internship at the Urology Department of Innsbruck for the study of the use of electrical stimulation in detrusor instability.

On 18 May 1994 he was appointed Corresponding Member of the A.U.A. (American Urological Association) at the annual meeting in San Francisco (California) after the presentation of Prof. Subbarao Yalla.

In 1994 he carried out an internship at the Department of Urology at the University of Boston (USA) directed by Prof. Subbarau Yalla for the completion of a research project, funded by the Sardinia Region concerning the construction and testing of a dynamic artificial propeller suitable for emptying and filling of the bladder in the spinal cord ingury patient and for the study of the functional problems related to the cervico-urethral obstruction in the male. The project’s results were presented at the Meeting of the International Continence Society in Sidney.

On 24 October 1994 the Council of the Specialization School in Urology of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sassari expressed a very positive opinion on the teaching activity of Dr. Salvatore Siracusano, Adjunct Professor in the School, for the course "Use of electrophysiological tests in neuro-urology within the teaching of “Urological Clinic”.

From 1 November 1995 he followed Prof. E. Belgrano at the Urological Clinic of Trieste.

On 16 May 1995 he was appointed Hospital Assistant at the Urological Clinic at the University of Trieste and subsequently as 1st level Medical Director from 1 December 1998 to 5 March 2005 when he took up his service as Associate Professor, providing continuous clinical contributions as first Assistant and Head of the Urodynamics and Oncology Service allowing to perform various urological surguries as first operator.

In the academic year 1995/96 he was appointed free-contract Professor in the supplementary teaching activity of the teaching of "Neurourology and Urodynamics" at the Specialization School in Urology at the University of Trieste.

In 1996 he was appointed Expert in the Field of Urology and the Faculty of Trieste expressed its full appreciation for the commendable teaching and research activity carried out, after having taken note of his Curriculum.

In 1996 he participated in the competition notice for Associate Professor (D.D.M.M. 22/12/1995 and 29/02/1996 scientific sector F10X) with admission to the oral test.

In 1999 he participated in the competition notice for Associate Professor position at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia obtaining an excellent judgment.

In the academic year 1999/2000 he was appointed free-contract Professor in the supplementary teaching activity of the teaching of Urology at the Specialization School of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Trieste.

In 2000 he was assigned, as Adjunct Professor, the teaching course in the Urology discipline within the degree course "Principles of Tissue and Biomaterials Engineering" at the University of Trieste.

In 2000 he was appointed free-contract Professor in the supplementary teaching activity of the teaching of Urology at the Specialization School in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Trieste.

In 2000 he carried out an internship at the Department of Urology at the University of Innsbruck where he studied topics related to urological reconstructive surgery.

In 2002 he was offered, as free-contract Professor, the teaching course in the Urology discipline within the Physiotherapist degree course at the University of Trieste.

In the academic year 2003/2004 he was appointed free-contract Professor in the supplementary teaching activity of the teaching of "Functional instrumental semeiotics of the male urogenital system" at the Specialization School of Urology at the University of Trieste.

He was appointed by Prof. Emanuele Belgrano responsible, in his absence, for the assistance activity of the U.C.O. Urological Clinic of the University of Trieste from 31 March 2003 to 31 August 2003.

In 2004, he carried out an internship at the Urology Department at the University of Halle, directed by Prof. P. Fornara, for the study of laparoscopic techniques.

On 10 December 2004 he was declared eligible for the Associate Professor competition notice (MED/24 sector) and on March 2005 he was called by the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of Trieste to fill the position of Associate Professor in Urology.

From the academic year 2005/2006 to the academic year 2007/2008 he was assigned the teaching of Urology as part of the degree course in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Trieste, the teaching of Biomaterials in Urology at the degree course of Science in Medical Biotechnology and the teaching of Urology at the degree course in Physiotherapy. For the same period and at the same University, as part of the courses concerning the Specialization Schools, he was awarded the teaching of Functional and Instrumental Semeiotics (Specialization School in Urology), Neuro-urology and Urodynamics (Specialization School in Urology), Clinical Oncology (Specialization School in Urology), Gynecological Urology (Specialization School in Urology), Urology (Specialization School in Gynecology and Obstetrics) and Urology (Specialization School in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation). From 2005 to 2015 at the University of Trieste he carried out practical exercises for Medicine and Surgery degree course’s students and tutoring for residents in Urology.

In 2007 founding member of the Italian Society of Pelviperineology and Female and Functional Urology (SIPUF).

In November 2008 he became Associate Professor confirmed (MED/24 sector).

During the academic year 2008/2009 the following teachings were confirmed within the Specialization Schools: Functional and Instrumental Semiotics (Specialization School in Urology), Neuro-urology and Urodynamics (Specialization School in Urology), Clinical Oncology (Specialization School in Urology), Gynecological Urology (Specialization School in Urology), Urology (Specialization School in Gynecology and Obstetrics) and Urology (Specialization School in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation).

In the academic year 2008/2009 he was assigned the teaching of Urology at the Medicine and Surgery degree course.

In the academic year 2009/2010, the following teachings were confirmed for the Specialization Schools: Neuro-urology and Urodynamics (Specialization School in Urology), Clinical Oncology (Specialization School in Urology), Gynecological Urology (Specialization School in Urology), Urology (Specialization School in Gynecology and Obstetrics) and Urology (School of Specialization in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation).

In the academic year 2009/2010, his teaching of Urology at Medicine and Surgery degree course and at Physiotherapy degree course and the teaching of Biomaterials in Urology at Medical Biotechnology degree course were renewed.

In the academic year 2010/2011 his teaching of Urology at Medicine and Surgery degree course and at Physiotherapy degree course was renewed.

In the academic year 2011/2012 his teaching of Urology at Medicine and Surgery degree course and at Physiotherapy degree course was renewed.

In the academic year 2011/2012 his teaching of Urology within the Specialization Schools in Orthopedics and Traumatology, in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and in Gynecology and Obstetrics was renewed.

In the academic year 2012/2013, his teaching of Urology at Medicine and Surgery degree course was renewed.

In the academic year 2012/2013 his teaching of Urology within the Specialization Schools in Orthopedics and Traumatology, in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and in Gynecology and Obstetrics was renewed, and finally his teachings of Neuro-urology and Urodynamics, Clinical Oncology and Gynecological Urology within the Specialization School in Urology were renewed.

In the academic year 2013/2014 his teaching of Urology within the Specialization Schools in Orthopedics and Traumatology, in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and in Gynecology and Obstetrics was renewed, and finally his teachings of Neuro-urology and Urodynamics, Clinical Oncology and Gynecological Urology within the Specialization School in Urology were renewed.

In 2014 he obtained the National Scientific Qualification to Full Professor in Urology which was renewed in 2018.

In the academic year 2015/2016 he was appointed the teaching of Urology within the three-year Physiotherapy degree course at the University of Trieste.

In the academic year 2015/2016 he was the winner of the competition notice for a position of Associate Professor in Urology at the University of Verona where he has been serving since 26 October 2015 until today. From 2015 until today, at the University of Verona, he has carried out practical exercises for Medicine and Surgery degree course’s students and tutoring for residents in Urology.

In the academic year 2015/2016 he was appointed the teaching of Urology at the degree course in Obstetrics (12 hours of frontal lessons) at the University of Verona and he was appointed Professor at the Specialization School in Urology (12 hours of lessons) at the same University.

In the academic year 2016/2017 he was appointed the teaching of Urology at the Degree Course in Obstetrics (12 hours of frontal lessons) and the teaching of Urology (10 hours of frontal lessons) as part of the Visceral Rehabilitation II Course of which he is Coordinator within the degree course in Physiotherapy. He is a professor at the Specialization School in Urology (60 hours of frontal lessons).

In the academic year 2017/2018 he was appointed the teaching of Urology at the degree course in Obstetrics (12 hours of frontal lessons) and the teaching of Urology (10 hours of frontal lessons) as part of the Visceral Rehabilitation II Course of which he is Coordinator within the degree course in Physiotherapy. He is a professor at the Specialization School in Urology (108 hours of frontal lessons).

In the academic year 2018/2019 he was appointed the teaching of Urology at the degree course in Obstetrics (12 hours of frontal lessons) and the teaching of Urology (10 hours of frontal lessons) as part of the Visceral Rehabilitation II Course of which he is Coordinator within the degree course in Physiotherapy. He was appointed the teaching of Urology at the degree course in Medicine and Surgery (12 hours of frontal lessons) and holder of the elective course "Diagnosis and therapy of male urinary incontinence" (6 hours of frontal lessons). He is a professor at the Specialization School in Urology (278 hours of frontal lessons). In the academic year 2019/2020 he is holding the same teachings as the previous year and awaiting for them to be rewened also for the academic year 2020/2021. Moreover, the Co-teaching in human anatomy II training course is added for the academic years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020

From the academic year 2015/2016 until today, he is Professor of theoretical and practical course of robotic radical prostatectomy, held every six months, organized by the Urological Clinic and the University Hospital of Verona.

HONORS AND AWARDS

In 1990 he won the Festival-Competition with audiovisual materials concerning Andrology with the presentation of the film "Microsurgery of the seminal way" Coll.: E. Belgrano, C. Trombetta.

In 1991 he won the Serono prize as the best scientific contribution to the Italian Andrology Society with the work "The sympathetic-skin response (SSR): a test for electrophysiological verification of the retroperitoneal sympathetic in nerve sparing surgery for testicular cancer". Coll.: C. Trombetta, G. Sau, M. Deriu, A. Ganau.

In 1991 he won the Medas Prize as the best scientific contribution presented during the poster session at the 64th Congress of the Italian Society of Urology with the work "Intraoperative ultrasound-guided localization of non-palpable testicular masses". Coll.: C. Trombetta, M. Sanna, A. Paoni, E. Belgrano.

In 1992 he won the Medas Prize, placing second, as the best scientific contribution presented during the poster session at the 65th Congress of the Italian Society of Urology with the work "The use of radiolabeled antibodies in uro-oncological surgery: rational and first clinical applications". In 1996 he was elected Councillor of the Triveneto Club of Urodynamics.

In 1997 he was elected Cuncillor of the Board of the Italian Society of Urodynamics for the three-year period 1997/2000.

In 1998 he was elected Secretary of the Triveneto Club of Urodynamics.

He won the 3rd prize of the 4th Urogynecological Video Review during the International Monothematic Course "Sensory disorders of the lower urinary tract" (Rome, 6-7 February 1998).

In 1998 he was appointed Field Editor for the Microsurgery in Andrology section of the Italian Journal of Andrology.

In 1999 he was appointed member of the Study Commission for the Surgical Area of the C.I.E.N. (Italian Night Enuresis Club).

In 2000 he was elected Councillor of the Board of the Italian Society of Urodynamics for the three-year period 2000/2003.

In 2000, with the work "Epidemiological study of urinary incontinence in young and middle aged women", he won the prize provided by Alfa Wassermann at the XXIV° SIUD Congress (Bologna October 26-29, 2000) for the best scientific contribution.

In 2002 he was appointed Member of the Board of Reviewing Editors of the Urologia Internationalis journal, a role he still holds.

In 2002 the European Society of Urology (EAU) during the XVII Congress, held in Birmingham, awarded him as the "Best Poster Presentation" for the presentation of the poster "Evaluation of renal tumors patterns by high mechanical index (mi) intermittent pulse inversion harmonic imaging (pihi) technique: preliminary reports ".

In 2003 he was appointed Member of the Board of the journal Pelvic Floor Digest.

In 2003 he was elected Councillor of the Italian Society of Urology (SIU) and of the Uro-oncological Group of the North-East (GUONE).

In 2003 he was elected Councillor of the Board of the Italian Society of Urology for the three-year period 2003/2006.

In 2003, with the work "Long-term anticholinergic treatment: duration of therapy and causes for discontinuation", he won the 1st prize as the best scientific contribution of the XXVII SIUD Congress held in Milan from 22 to 25 November.

In 2003 he was elected member of the scientific commission of the Italian Continence Foundation (FIC), a role he still holds.

In 2004 he won with the work "Bladder wall stress in woman with detrusor overactivity" the 3rd prize as the best scientific contribution of the XXVIII SIUD Congress held in Udine from 13 to 16 October.

In 2005 he was elected Director of the Italian Society of Oncological Urology (SIURO).

Since 2005 until now he has held the position of member of the Board of the Italian Archive of Urology and Andrology journal.

In 2006 he was re-elected Councillor in the Board of the Northeast Uro-oncology Group (GUONE), a role he still holds.

In 2008 he was elected President of the Triveneto Club of Urodynamics.

In 2008 he participated to the competition for an ordinary professor position at the University of Perugia obtaining an excellent evaluation.

From 2008 to 2010 he held the role of member of the Board of the Urologia journal.

Since 2010 he has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Pelviperineology journal.

In 2010 he became local Coordinator (Urological Clinic of Trieste) for the national SATURN study.

In 2011 he as appointed winner of the PRIN project for the academic year 2009 as part of the Coordinating Group of the study "The expected quality of life in the medium and long term in patients undergoing radical cystectomy with ileal conduit: a multicenter, multidisciplinary and multimethod study".

In 2011 he became Associate Member of the ESUI Board within the EAU, a role he still holds.

In 2012 he was appointed FEBU examiner (Fellow of the European board of Urology), a role he still holds.

In 2014 he became Associate Member of the ESOU Board within the EAU, a role he still holds.

Since 2015 he has been a member of the Board of Reviewing Editors of the "Case Reports in Urology" journal.

In 2015 he was appointed representative of the Triveneto Club of Urodynamics within the Board of the Triveneta Society of Urology.

In 2015 he was appointed member of the Scientific Committee of the New Urology Society (SUN).

Awarded with the title of High Specialization in "Urothelial tumors and urinary diversions" by the University Hospital of Verona from 1 Decembre 2015 to today.

In 2016 he was appointed President of the "Male Pelvic Commission" by SIUD.

In 2016 he became local Coordinator (Urological Clinic of Verona) for the national RECORD 2 study.

In 2016 he was re-elected Director of GUONE (Uro-oncological Group of the North- east).

In 2016 he became local Principal Investigator of the Center of Verona for the multicenter study Open-label clinical study to evaluate the efficacy of intravesical instillation in add-on of hyaluronic acid / chondroitin sulfate after early instillation of mitomycin C vs early instillation of mitomycin C in patients with low-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer EPT02 / 2016 (Early Protection Treatment).

From 2017 he became Scientific Director of the Interdisciplinary Uro-Oncology Group (GIURO) of the University Hospital of Verona.

In 2017 he obtained the master’s degree in robotic prostate surgery issued by the University of Verona.

In 2017 he received the prize for best contribution made to the SUN Congress.

In 2017 he won the SMART 2016 "Autonomous robotic assistant surgeon (SARAS)" project approved by the European Community under the Frame Program Horizon 2020 - proposal number 779813.

In 2019 he’s holder of an application for a national patent entitled "Thermal endoscope for surgical applications" (n.102019000003347) and holder of the same in Europe (EP20150675) since 2020.

In 2019, he was certified "Concolle Surgeon" by ERUS after the successful outcome of the structured training program held at the Orsi Academy (Melle).

Since 2019 he has been part of the Board of both the "Human physiology" journal and the Journal of Surgery.

In 2019 he obtained a university funding destinated to a research grant titled "Prospective and multicentric study on the quality of life in patients undergoing radical cystectomy with ileal conduit (IC) or orthotopic ileal neobladder (ONB): analysis of the first year of follow-up" (Protocol: UQOL1Y) of which he is Principal Investigator and National Coordinator.

In 2019, as regards the procedure for the recruitment of one 1st level Professor position at the University of Foggia, Prof. Siracusano was declared "qualified to fill the position related to the procedure in question".

In 2020 he was appointed Scientific Reviewer for uro-oncology research projects of the KWF Kanker bestrijding (Dutch Cancer Society).

In 2020 he became Reviewer of the of Sexual Medicine Journal, Transational Andrology and Urology Journal, Cancers and finally Editorial Board Member of World Journal of Genetics and Molecular Biology (WJGMB).

CLINICAL ACTIVITY

The clinical activity of Prof. Siracusano from the day of the degree to 14 September 1986 took place continuously at the Urological Clinic of the University of Genoa, directed by Prof. Luciano Giuliani.

During this time, he participated as a Volunteer Assistant to the execution of major surgery and personally performed some surgical interventions. During the same time, he gained experience in using microsurgical techniques in the field of experimental microsurgery.

Since 14 September 1986 he followed Prof. Emanuele Belgrano at the Institute of Urological Clinic of the University of Sassari where he immediately began the clinical activity with medical emergency and was responsible for the Continence and Bladder Rehabilitation Clinic.

At the Institute of Urological Clinic of the University of Sassari, he participated as Assistant to the execution of major surgery, personally carrying out numerous endoscopic and open surgeries.

On 25 July 1989 he obtained the Specialization in Urology degree with honours at the University of Genoa.

On 1 November 1995 he followed Prof. Belgrano at the Urological Clinic of the University of Trieste and on 16 May 1995 he was appointed Assistant at the Urological Clinic of the University of Trieste and subsequently 1st level Medical Director from 1 December 1998 to date, providing a continuous clinical contribution as Head of Department and head of the Urodynamics and Oncology Service and performing various urological surgeries as first operator.

In 2000, he completed an internship at the Urology Department at the University of Innsbruck where he studied topics related to urological reconstructive surgery.

From 1 January 2001 to 31 May 2004 he collected 20 sampling from beating heart cadaver for transplantation.

In 2004 he carried out an internship at the Urology Department of the University of Halle directed by Prof. P. Fornara for the study of laparoscopic techniques.

He was appointed by Prof. Emanuele Belgrano responsible, in his absence, for the assistance activity of the Urological Clinic of the University of Trieste from 31 March 2003 to 31 August 2003.

From 1 January 2013 he was appointed Coordinator of the uro-oncology group at the Cattinara Hospital in Trieste.

From 28 January 2013 to 1 February 2013, he completed an intensive course for the study of laparoscopy at the IRCAD Center in Strasbourg.

From 21 to 28 October 2013 he carried out an internship for robotic surgery at the OLV Vattikuti Robotic Surgery Institute in Aalst directed by Prof. Alex Mottrie.

Over the past 10 years Prof. Siracusano has focused his attention to uro- oncological, functional surgery and organ explants from cadaver becoming the responsible for the urological field from 2001 to 2004 at the Urological Clinic of Trieste.

Since 26 October 2015, as Associate Professor, he has been carrying out assistance activities at the Urological Clinic of the University of Verona as a 1st level Medical Director and with the recognition of high specialization in "Urothelial diseases and urinary diversions".

In 2017 he obtained the master’s degree in robotic prostate surgery issued by the University of Verona.

In 2019, he was certified "Concolle Surgeon" by ERUS after the successful outcome of the structured training program held at the Orsi Academy (Melle) directed by Professor Alex Mottrie.

As concerning surgery experience, Prof. Siracusano has performed more than 4000 surgeries in the uro-oncological, functional, endoscopic, and andrological field.

He participated in the 37th Conference of the Northern Italian Urologists Society held in Sanremo (Imperia) from 15 to 17 April 1988, with the oral communication Intraoperative echotomography of the therapy of renal calculosis and collaborated on the oral communication Pelvic Leiomyosarcoma: presentation of three cases. He participated in the 2nd International Symposium on Advances in Urologic Oncology held in Sanremo from 16 to 18 March 1989 concerning "New trends in diagnosis and treatment of renal cancer" and collaborated on the oral communication Intraoperative sonography in conservative renal tumor surgery: clinical and experimental experience.

He participated in the IVth International Congress of Andrology held in Florence from 14 to 18 May 1989 collaborating on the presentation of the mini-poster Percutaneos scleroembolization of spermatic veins in varicocele.

He participated in the XXXVIII Conference of the Northern Italy Urologists Society held in Trento from 19 to 21 May 1989. Dr. Siracusano collaborated on the preparation of the preordained intervention Hematochemical and ultrasound follow up after ESWL with Tripter X1 which was presented at the end of the Report on "Complications from extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL): prevention and treatment. On 3 June 1989 he collaborated on the drafting of a Report on the experience with the Tripter X1 lithotripter that was presented in Zingonia (Bergamo) as part of a Roundtable concerning "Lights and shadows of the first and second generation lithotripters" held in occasione of a conference organized by the Lombard Urologists Society.

He participated in the 38th S.U.I.C.M.I. Congress held in Lecce from 8 to 10 June 1989. As part of a Flash on varicocele, he collaborated on the oral communication on Varicocele treatment: role of scleroembolization and presented the oral communication on the Use of intraoperative ultrasound in the conservative surgery of kidney tumors : clinical and experimental experience and on Bulb-cavernous reflex and somato- sensory evoked potential of the dorsal nerve of the penis in diabetic patients with and without erection deficit.

He participated in the 62nd Congress of the S.I.U. held in Florence from 10 to 13 September 1989 collaborating on the communications Ultrasound diagnosis of post- ESWL lesions and Isolated registration of the cavernous arteries after intraoperative clamping of the dorsal arteries. Moreover, contributed with the oral communication The predictivity of RBC and PES as early markers of diabetic impotence and the poster Presentation of a case of prostate sarcoma whose content was not published on that occasion.

He peresented the poster The latencies of the bulb-cavernous reflex and the somato-sensory evoked potential after pudendal nerve stimulation in the early diagnosis of diabetic impotence at the XIII National Congress of the S.I.U.D. held in Perugia from 12 to 14 October 1989.
