He played hurling with his local club Rathnure and with the Wexford senior inter-county team in the 1970s and early 1980s. He retired from playing and became a manager due to a shoulder injury received during practice for the 1979 Wexford county title. Physiotherapy and medical treatments were unsuccessful, and Rathnure asked him to coach the minor and juvenile teams in 1981. 14 THE ANNUAL CONVENTION OF CUMANN LÚTHCHLEAS GAEL, COISTE CHONTAE THIOBRAID ÁRANN 2015 Tuarascáil an Rúnaí 2015 (Tipperary Co Secretary’s Annual Report) eidh cuimhne ar 2015 toisc gur shroicheamar trí chinn de cluichí ceannais na hÉireann. Cé nach raibh bua againn in aon ceann acu, is féidir linn a bheith deimhneach agus bródúil go rabhamar páirteach insan méid sin de laetha móra CLG. BD’fhág Éamon Ó’Sé slán tar éis páirt a ghlacadh sna cluichí ceannais sa sraith agus sa chraobh, ach ar a laghad, bhí sé de shólás aige Craobh na Mumhan a bhuachaint, an t-aon trófaí i rith a réime bhainistíochta. Leanann an dul chun chinn sa pheil agus chuir Na Tráchtálaí marc airde nua síos leis an éacht a rinne siad i Mí na Samhna ag tabhairt an chéad Craobh Peile Chúige ar ais don chontae. It is a privilege to present my ninth report to Tipperary County Convention. 2015 was so full of promise being so near and yet so far away and could have easily turned out a great year. After a bad start losing the Waterford Crystal and League first round our Senior Hurlers had four very impressive League wins on the trot to qualify for the League play-offs. A most disappointing one point loss to Waterford in the League Semi was put aside as we overcame our bogey team Limerick in the Munster Championship with a sixteen point victory in their own Gaelic Grounds. This was followed up with a Munster Final win over Waterford and momentum was building towards an All Ireland Final.

  • Loughmore Castleiney Development Plan 2017-2022
Girls from the parish are active participants in camogie and ladies football. For the main part this has been with clubs from the neighbouring parishes. There was an active ladies football club in the parish from 1975 to 1979. During this time they won 5 County Senior Titles and a Munster Club title in 1978 together with a number of underage successes. Camogie is the main sport at present with a number of the players achieving success at club school and inter county levels. In 2002 a parish team reached the Munster Final of the Under 13 Community Games competition where they were narrowly beaten Club Chairman’s Address 03 Methodology 04 History of the Club 05 Mission, Vision, Values 08 Finance and Fundraising 10 Facilities and Development 11 Coaching and Games Development 12 Club Structures and Administration 15 Communications and I.T. 16 Implementation and Review Mechanisms for the Plan 17 Acknowledgements 17 Club Lotto 18 County Senior Football Champions 1979 Club Board Chairman’s address It gives me great pleasure to write a few short lines to introduce our club's 5 year plan. This booklet sets out what the club's 5 year plan committee deem to be the crucial projects for completion over the next five years, to build on the work already done by members and deceased members down through the years in promoting Gaelic Games in our parish. The club will be looking for a positive contribution from all our members to help achieve the goals set out in the plan. It is important that these projects are completed so that Loughmore Castleiney GAA Club will continue to serve the players, members and supporters from our parish for many years into the future.

The attendance included John Moloney, Noel Morris, John Costigan, Pat Moroney, Seamus J., King and Michael TO’Meara. Seamus McCarthy was unable to be present. At the outset John Moloney was unanimously appointed chairman amd Michael O’Meara secretary. The chairman outlined the aims of the group, which were chiefly to honour annually persons over 70 years of age, who had given significant service to the G.A.A. in whatever capacity - player, official, groundsman, jersey carrier, tea maker, referee, umpire, etc. A sample of a framed certificate, which was presented annually in Dublin, was shown by the chairman to the meeting and the secretary undertook to get quotations for same. It was agreed that approximately 40 annual presentations would be made, i.e. an average of 10 per division. The consensus was that the general public should be asked to nominate suitable persons and justify why they were considered worthy. It was agreed that the presentations would be made in Brú Ború, Cashel on November 16th or 23rd and that the evening’s programme would consist of a chat, light refreshments and entertainment before the presentations. It was also agreed that the wives of the recipients be invited to the presentations.

This year our Senior Championship was played on a new (or was it the old) system and it proved to be a great success, bringing great freshness and a renewed interest in hurling to the Division. We were treated to a number of very close enjoyable games, culminating in taday's unique final pairing of Burgess and Kildangan. Both of these team have come from Intermediate ranks as recently as 2004 and 2005 so a new Club name will be inscribed on to the Frank McGrath Cup in 2008. Kildangan's two previous successes were before the present Trophy came into being in 1962. With little form to go on, 1 look forward to a cracking, sporting game and I wish both learns the best 01 luck.

  • Information Book 2020
BUÍOCHAS As my fourth term as Public Relations Officer of Wexford GAA I am delighted to be able to continue with this annual publication of our Wexford GAA Club directory. This small but vital little book has now become an important tool for all club managers and officers and provides a comprehensive list of names and contact details of everyone attached to Wexford GAA both adult and underage. Thanks to all clubs for their submission of their details. At county level we are reaching new highs in our hurling and we are getting there with football. As Public Relations Officer, I ask each club to keep promoting everything that is good about your club and everything that is good about Wexford GAA and together we will get there. Think positive for 2020 for football and hurling, both club and county and we wish all Wexford GAA clubs, managers, selectors and supporters a very successful 2020 season. “Ni ceart go cur le chéile” Pádraig Húilín Oifeach Caidreamh Poiblí Coiste Chontae Loch Garman Emergency Phone Numbers Caredoc: 1850 334 999 Emergency Call: 112 or 999 Wexford General Hospital: 053 91 53000 1 Wexford GAA Management Committee Chairman: Derek Kent 087-2837504 [email protected] Vice Michael Martin 087 6291866 Chairman [email protected] Secretary: Gearóid Devitt 053-9144808 (W) 087 1218365 (M) [email protected] Assistant Andrew Egan 087-2307759 Secretary: [email protected] Treasurer: Andrew Nolan 087-2221497 [email protected] P.R.O.: PJ Howlin 087 2733589 [email protected] Development David Tobin 087 7943449 Officer:
