PLANNING EXCELLENCE 2015 QUEENSLAND AWARDS 25 AwardED To Queensland GREAT PLACE University of Technology Project COMMENDATION QUT Gardens Point Development

The QUT Gardens Point site has been transformed over recent years to provide for a more traditional sense of campus as a meeting place and hub of learning. This has been achieved through a series of projects, both large and small, building on existing break-out points and new hi-tech building spaces, spurred on by the advent of the Friendship Bridge. This has made the site a major point of cross- river connectivity, instead of an end-of-line site. QUT has worked hard to use this opportunity to transform a tired, former Institute site catering mostly for part-time study, into a central metropolitan daytime campus with an upbeat urban landscape that caters for not only students, but now also for the broader community that frequent the City precinct. The transition to a 21st century campus has been remarkable and a credit to the aspirations and vision of the campus leadership.
