China and India have fought a war over contested territory through which the river flows, and Bangladesh faces human security pressures in this basin that will be magnified by upstream river practices. Controversial dam-building activities and water diversion plans could threaten regional stability; yet, no bilateral or multilateral water management accord exists in the Brahmaputra basin. This project, sponsored by the MacArthur Foundation, provides greater understanding of the equities and drivers fueling water insecurity in the Brahmaputra River basin. After conducting research in Dhaka, New Delhi, and Beijing, CNA offers recommendations for key stakeholders to consider at the subnational, bilateral, and multilateral levels to increase cooperation in the basin. These findings lay the foundation for policymakers in China, India, and Bangladesh to discuss steps that help manage and resolve Brahmaputra resource competition, thereby strengthening regional security. -

Gross profit in 2020 amounted to RMB80,036 million, representing an increase of RMB10,739 million or 15.5% from RMB69,297 million in 2019. Operating profit in 2020 amounted to RMB34,405 million, representing an increase of RMB273 million or 0.8% from RMB34,132 million in 2019. Profit before tax in 2020 amounted to RMB26,957 million, compared with RMB27,349 million in 2019. Profit attributable to owners of the parent in 2020 amounted to RMB16,475 million, compared with RMB19,999 million in 2019. Earnings per share for the year 2020 amounted to RMB0.92, compared with RMB1.16 for the year 2019. The value of new contracts of the Group in 2020 amounted to RMB1,066,799 million, representing an increase of 10.6% from RMB964,683 million in 2019. As at 31 December 2020, the backlog for the Group was RMB2,910,322 million. -

Through the study of material culture in its archaeological contexts it is often possible to identify what goods were exchanged by way of which routes. However, less attention has been paid to exploring the cultural mechanisms that explain the nature, extent and specific cultural processes behind these cultural interactions. Taking Northwest China as its point of departure, this dissertation attempts to understand long term developments in Bronze Age Central Eurasia from a multi-scalar spatial perspective by focusing on the socio-economic dynamics among the region’s various cultural communities. -

Not only does the author trace the historically most significant environmentally depredating human events in Xinjiang over the past two thousand years, I also explains these events within the context of social, political, economic, and resource-extraction history, thus providing insight into the nature of the political, social, economic, and natural-resource backdrops that created the need of the Chinese to engage in environmentally hazardous / destructive activities in its far western / northwestern borderlands.
