View the Boarding House Tour the school Meet some of the boarding staff Meet some pupils An introduction to Edgeborough Edgeborough is an outstanding co-educational Preparatory School with approximately 340 pupils aged between 2 and 13. The School was founded in 1906 as a small, privately owned boarding school for boys and was registered as a charitable trust in 1966. The School became co-educational in 1992. The Pre-Prep and Nursery have been added subsequently. The School is set in 50 acres of beautiful, rolling Surrey countryside in Frensham. It is extremely well resourced both in terms of buildings and staff. Facilities include a Sports Hall, Theatre, Music, Art, DT and Dance studios, state of the art Science and ICT facilities, Swimming Pool, an outstanding Boarding House and a large Astro-turf. The pupils are polite and respectful, energetic and confident, while the teachers harness this enthusiasm with creative lessons and a friendly approach. Subject specific experts teach lessons in the Prep School while in the Pre-Prep pupils learn through exciting discoveries, entertaining topics and well-structured lesson plans. Boarding information Edgeborough runs a flexi-boarding system for up to sixty boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 13. Boarding is arranged over two floors in the main House, ‘Frensham Place.’ There is a spacious private flat for the House Parents. There is additional accommodation in the boarding house for a House Tutor and a Matron. Key terms Candidates will be offered a competitive salary reflecting the level of responsibility the post holds. Children of members of the staff at the school are able to apply for a means tested fee discount, as long as all other usual entry requirements are fulfilled. Edgeborough is currently part of the Teacher’s Pension Scheme. All staff are strongly encouraged to continue with their professional development at the school. Job Description Job Title: Head of Boarding / House Parents Start Date: September 2020. J We are looking for an outstanding team player with warmth, friendliness and tremendous energy. Responsibilities: Carrying out all duties which may be reasonably required by the Headmaster and Governors. The Head of Boarding/House Parents will have due regard for the School’s ethos, aims and policies. Line Management: The Head of Boarding/House Parents’ immediate Line Manager is the Headmaster. The successful candidate will be heavily involved in helping drive Edgeborough’s boarding strategy and, as such, is likely to play a key role in the School’s future development. All staff are expected to co-operate with colleagues and to follow guidance from senior staff. General Outline: The Head of Boarding/House Parents are responsible for the welfare of the boarding community at Edgeborough. Areas of Responsibility: Communicate with current and prospective parents of Boarders at Edgeborough. Ensure National Minimum Standards for Boarding are met. Maintain Fire Drill records. Run the Boarding Budget. Oversee the quality of accommodation. Undertake boarding duties in the morning and evenings and be on site during boarding evenings. Organise an imaginative and enjoyable Boarding Programme. Run the Boarders’ Rewards and Sanctions system. Work closely with the House Tutor and Matron to provide the best possible service for the House. Hold regular House Meetings with staff and Boarding pupils. Ensure that proper and effective supervision of the boarders is active at all relevant times. Meet with the Head to advise on Boarding matters, including staffing and numbers. Be responsible for the implementation of the School’s Security and Health and Safety policies in the Boarding House. Residential Staff: There are a number of duties that the residential staff undertake. These include: Keeping a general eye on the Estate. Maintaining the integrity and security of your accommodation on the Estate. Meetings: The Head of Boarding/House Parent attends weekly staff meetings and SLT meetings as arranged. Induction, Appraisal & Professional Development: Induction: The Head of Boarding/House Parents will undergo the school’s standard induction procedure which will include Child Protection. They are also expected to take the necessary steps to familiarise themselves with the support departments and personnel. Appraisal: Appraisal will be arranged by the Headmaster. Professional Development: The Head of Boarding/House Parents are expected to seek opportunities for professional development, to attend all pre-term Inset and to be active members of the Boarding Schools’ Association.
