Now in 2013, Phill is pleased to announce he’ll be touring the show across 25 UK venues and festivals this Spring. Based on the character based comedy show which he took to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012 "You're Probably Wondering Why I've Asked You Here..." is a three-part performance unlike anything you have seen before. Phill Jupitus plays the part of three extraordinary characters and with the help of an inquisitive audience, we find out more about them. The Late Vernon Herschel Harley is a legend of stage and screen who died at the age of 114 just last Thursday. He has worked with everybody in theatre and cinema and describes himself as "Quite lively for a dead chap." and "An annecdote Gatling gun." The Late Kurt Schiffer was the 'Korvettenkapitan' of the U42B out of Hamburg part of the German Navy's 'Wolf Packs', which were the scourge of the Atlantic shipping lanes. He died in 1944. The Late Phill Jupitus died on June 24th 2052 on the eve of his 90th birthday. Leave your preconceptions at the door but don't forget to bring your curiosity. Twenty three series’ later Phill is the last man standing from the original line-up, his infectious giggle, quick remarks and cheery sarcasm proving a hit with audiences Aside from Never Mind the Buzzcocks and his live stand up shows, Phill currently appears as a regular guest on QI (BBC2). While on BBC Radio 4 Phill is a regular member of the award winning News Quiz in addition to numerous presenting work on such shows as Phill Jupitus’ Comic Strips and The Man Who Bought Hendrix’s Stage . In the Autumn of 2009 Phill graced the West End stage in the hit musical Hairspray playing Edna Turnblad receiving critical acclaim for his performance. In 2011 Jupitus played King Arthur in the UK and Irish tour of Spamalot and in his most recent stage role he starred in ‘Big Society’ for 19 nights at the Leeds City Varieties. The summer of 2010 saw the book release of the ex-host of BBC 6’s Music critically acclaimed breakfast show, Good Morning Nantwich – Adventures In Breakfast Radio , where not only does Phill discover the answer but finds out what really makes the listening nation tick first thing in the morning. This is a show about what one woman thinks about when she thinks about sex with men. Commenting on the project the anonymous female writer states; “I have been thinking about what it means to be objectified, and whether or not that is really tied to desire or power. Although men are objectified by other men, I was at a loss to think of many examples of men being objectified by women, and the examples I could think of were quite complicated - frequently involving the man's profession rather than appearance (in Sex and the City, for example, men are usually referred to in shorthand by whatever job it is they do rather than how they look or act), or their dominance was the source of objectification.

    THE DIVINE COMEDY – A BIOGRAPHY The Divine Comedy is Neil Hannon. Over the years, the name has encompassed other musicians, but the driving force of the band and its main (sometimes only!) member has always been Neil Hannon. He chose the name 'The Divine Comedy' aged 18, almost at random. He and two Enniskillen school friends needed a new name for their band and Neil spotted a copy of Dante’s epic poem on the family bookshelf. It stuck, and a year later it was the name under which the trio signed to Irish run indie Setanta Records. They left Northern Ireland, moved into a squat in London, released a mini-album, 1990’s REM/Ride influenced 'Fanfare for the Comic Muse' and ‘91’s ‘Europop’ E.P. then split up. Neil's bandmates went to university and Neil returned home. Retaining the name, he spent 18 months living in his parents’ attic, sleeping during the day, watching old movies and writing songs at night. Influenced by everything from Jacques Brel, Scott Walker and Michael Nyman to "A Room with a View", Wordsworth, and Mr Benn, these songs eventually evolved into two albums. The first of these, ‘Liberation’ was released in 1993. Totally different to anything else around, and indeed his previous work, he now considers it his first album proper. The press adored it. The NME described it as "..an array of seductive yarns.. glorious, gleeful tunesmanship." Dave Cavanagh, writing in Select said "...one of the bountiful, overflowing joys of the year. Any year." Melody Maker described it as "An album that could make any listener want to stumble up to him and proclaim ‘Neil, you’re a genius’".

This Festival grew out of its community and it remains a community celebration. Community Programme Poets Brenda Read Brown and Sara-Jane Arbury work all year round with people who may never be able to attend a Festival event, who have never attempted creative writing before, or have never taken part in any cultural activity. The impact this work can have is astounding. The Community Programme reaches out to people facing social exclusion due to physical or mental health issues, disability or learning challenges and engages them in life-affirming ways with poetry and the creative process. See the Mary and Joe event on Sunday 12th July. Recent projects have included poetry writing in doctors’ surgeries and hospital waiting rooms, and with vulnerable women at a women’s shelter. Opportunities for self-expression in these communities are hugely rewarding for all involved. “You’ve woken something up in me!” said one participant. This is only possible due to funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation, Herefordshire Community Foundation and Sylvia Adams Charitable Trust.
