Against the Red Flash, the 6-3, Bold - Home Games / * - NEC Game 230-pound Gill registered a game-high nine tackles, including five solo stops, none bigger than a second-quarter strip-sack All Times EST. of SFU quarterback Bear Fenimore which was recovered by junior safety Anthony Watkins. After helping stop the ball carrier for a three-yard gain on first down, Leo broke up a pass on 3rd-and-7. Founded: 1883 Wagner Head Coach Jason Houghtaling Jason Houghtaling (say it Ho-tal-ling) is in his third season as the head coach of the Seahawks and, at age 36, is the third-youngest head coach in the FCS. He took over for Walt Hameline, who announced at the end of the 2014 season that he would be stepping down as head coach while remaining as Seahawk athletic director. Houghtaling (8-15), who guided Wagner to a 6-5 record (4-2 in the NEC, third place) in 2016, was the Seahawks’ associate head coach and offensive coordinator when the Green & White claimed a share of the 2014 NEC title (with Sacred Heart), and overall, has spent seven years as a Wagner assistant. In his final three seasons as offensive coordinator (2011, 2012, 2014), the Seahawks amassed a 16-6 NEC record with league titles in two of those three years. In 2014, the Seahawks’ offense ranked No. 4 nationally in time of possession and did not commit a turnover in the final three games of the season. Houghtaling served as offensive coordinator at Cornell in 2013 before returning to Grymes Hill as associate head coach/ CENTRAL CONNECTICUT ST. UNIVERSITY offensive coordinator. Six schools will be playing their second game of the year, while Saint Francis (PA) begins its 2007 campaign after being idle last week. Opponents from the Patriot League, MEAC, and MAAC are all on Saturday’s docket. Week Two is also home to the season’s first conference showdown with defending champion Monmouth hosting Robert Morris. Robert Morris at Monmouth Kickoff: Saturday at 1:00 pm Location: West Long Branch, NJ (Kessler Field) Fast Stat to Track: Keep an eye on Monmouth wide receiver Adam San Miguel’s (North Bergen, NJ/St. Peter’s Prep) total number of catches on Saturday. Preview: The first NEC game of the season pits defending league champion Monmouth against veteran head coach Joe Walton’s Robert Morris team. The Colonials search for their first win over Kevin Callahan’s Hawks since 2002. Monmouth has triumphed in the last four meetings, including a 16-7 decision last October on the way to its fifth NEC title. Robert Morris –also a five-time NEC champion— looks to tilt the all-time series with Monmouth back in its favor after splitting the first 12 meetings.
