FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DECEMBER 7, 2010 RIVER ROCK CASINO RESORT & BOULEVARD CASINO PRESENT JULIO IGLESIAS FRIDAY, APRIL 8 – RIVER ROCK SHOW THEATRE SATURDAY, APRIL 9 – RED ROBINSON SHOW THEATRE Famous for his sold-out performances, Julio Iglesias has for nearly three decades been synonymous with romantic ballads and a career that has been filled with one record-setting achievement after another. Iglesias is a living legend who received the first and only Diamond Record Award ever given to a performer by the Guinness Book of World Records for selling more records in more languages than any other musical artist in history. Often referred to as “the universal voice” and the “master of the love song”, Iglesias performs concerts in multiple languages around the world unrivaled not just in the number of albums sold but also in the number of lives he has touched. Born in Madrid, Spain, he won a songwriter’s contest at the age of twenty-five and signed a contract with Discos Columbia, the Latin music label of the Columbia Records company. It was in 1978 when Iglesias signed a contract with CBS International adding English, French, Portuguese and German to his repertoire. His first English album, De Nina A Mujer was released in 1983 and became an instant hit. He then released 1100 Bel Air Place the following year … it sold three million copies in the US with the first single, “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before” – a duet with Willie Nelson – reaching #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also featured a duet with Diana Ross entitled “All of You.” In 1985, he became one of the few Hispanic artists to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Three years later, he received a Grammy Award for “Best Latin Pop Performance” for his album, Un hombre solo. Iglesias still enjoys performing worldwide and will be appearing at both the River Rock Casino Resort and Boulevard Casino’s Red Robinson Show Theatre in April, 2011.
