Also later in the month of April a Senior Survey will be distributed. The information received is used to prepare the Senior Awards Ceremony and Graduation programs. Seniors must list what they plan to do after high school and any scholarships or grants that they have received. Documentation must be provided to verify all information on the survey. Ms. Morton must receive all documentation no later than May 5 for information to appear in the graduation program. Gear Up for College Entrance Exams The Best Testing Schedule There is no one test plan or schedule that is best for everyone. It depends on your schedule, your ability to prep, the classes you are taking, and many other factors. But since we are always pressed for an answer, we will tell you one schedule that works well for many students. Class of 2018 consider taking the SAT test in May and June. You may need to reserve May for AP tests and SAT Subject tests in the same subjects (if required). Juniors, if you are taking the ACT, consider the June test. The advantage of this plan is that you have a place to start from and can spend the summer prepping for your fall test(s). This allows you to use the fall of senior year for getting your applications in early.

McGraw is a retired Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) principal who also served as a teacher and vice principal during her 25-year career with CCPS. She was the 2009 CCPS Principal of the Year, and volunteers with Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. She is an elected member of the board of directors of the Maryland Association of School Boards. She is also a member of the Charles County Retired School Personnel Association, the Education Association of Charles County and the Maryland State Education Association. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary special education and her master’s in special education. Mrs. McGraw and her husband have been residents of Charles County for 43 years. Latina L. Wilson, Vice Chairman Latina Wilson is a Gulf War veteran who retired from the U.S. Army after serving for 20 years. She is active in the community and serves as president of the Port Tobacco River Conservancy, president of the Southern Maryland Alumni Chapter for the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, a member of the McConchie One-room School House committee and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She also served many years as the education liaison for the Charles County Branch of the NAACP. Ms. Wilson earned her bachelor of science in business from the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore.     Action-SS June 13, 2017 Attachments BOARD OF EDUCATION OF CHARLES COUNTY AGENDA ITEM SUBJECT FY 2018 Educational Facilities Master Plan (EFMP) OVERVIEW The EFMP is the first step in the state's school construction program process that leads to the development and approval of a state supported Capital Improvements Program (CIP). Revisions to the EFMP are submitted annually to the Maryland Department of Planning by July 1. This plan is an “identification of needs document.” The CIP is developed later in the fall of each year and addresses these needs with careful consideration to project costs and affordability discussions with county government. BUDGET IMPLICATIONS The EFMP is used to develop and prioritize both the state and local CIP. Funding consideration by the Interagency Committee on School Construction will be given to a local board's CIP only if a current EFMP is on file. STAKEHOLDERS INVOLVED To ensure our system's facilities needs are objectively identified for the Board of Education’s (BOE) programming consideration, central office and local government staffs assisted in the development and refinement of the EFMP documents. DESCRIPTION A synopsis of the required elements of the EFMP is included with this plan (attachment). Careful consideration was given to the long standing dialogue between the County Commissioners and the BOE relating to the Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance, and the responsiveness of the CIP to the county’s growth within the state and local anticipated revenues. The focus of the EFMP is reflected in the proposed project schedule along with the systemic renovations plan. This year’s update follows our normal review of maintenance records, systems normal life expectancy records, and growth in the county; but also includes consideration of the new System Wide Capital Improvements Program (educational survey and assessment by GWWO Architects).

Abell, Vice Chairman Jennifer S. Abell is the Senior Development Manager for the March of Dimes Greater Washington, D.C., Market and a longtime resident of Charles County. She is a member of the New Life Wesleyan Church, Charles County Chamber of Commerce, Partnerships For A Healthier Charles County and the Fetal Infant Mortality Review Board. She has volunteered and held leadership positions with many local organizations, including Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the United States of America, Kiwanis International, Parent Teacher Association, Indian Head Swim Team and the Center for Abused Persons. Ms. Abell received her undergraduate degree at the College of Southern Maryland, lives in La Plata and has four children, all whom graduated from CCPS.
