European Champions in Gothenburg last summer, were all previous champions at U23 The year began with the European Athletics level. Indoor Cup in front of a full house in Lievin, France, on the fi rst weekend of March. It has long been the policy of European The men’s competition, which was won Athletics, to focus our fi nancial resources by the host nation, went down to the fi nal into these “developmental” competitions event and in the end could have been won and ensure that there is an appropriate level by any one of four nations. For me, this of competitions for Europe’s young athletes weekend epitomised what makes our Cup at an important stage in their physical competitions so special: teamwork, national development. I have no doubt that a number passion, togetherness and above all, a sense of future champions at senior level will be of unpredictability about the end result! on show in Debrecen and Hengelo next summer.

  • Carmen Douma-Hussar
CAMBRIDGE SPORTS HALL OF FAME Carmen Douma-Hussar March 12, 1977 - Hespeler native Carmen Douma-Hussar is without a doubt the finest female middle distance runner Cambridge has ever produced. What's more, she is one the finest in Canadian history. A native of Hespeler, her parents Martin and Agnes were sup- portive of her running career. "They were very encouraging, but never overbearing, and at the same time being excited for me." From an early age she shone on the track and at cross-country events. In high school she was a standout at Woodland Christian High School in Breslau. There she developed into one of the best high school runners in Canada. As her stellar high school athletic career was drawing to a close, she earned a scholarship to Villanova University in Pennsylvania, a private university just northwest of Philadelphia. Not only did her experience there exceed her expectations, she established lifelong friendships. First and foremost, she had an outstanding running career at Villanova, where she rose to the top of the NCAA, winning three individual titles in the late 1990s. "Villanova was one of the top middle distance schools and was definitely on my radar, but Krestena Sullivan went there, and she was a senior when I was a freshman. I knew her from high school, so that was also a big reason I chose Villanova because I knew she liked it." In 1998 Douma won the NCAA indoor mile title and the outdoor title over 1,500 metres at the national championships Carmen Douma-Hussar in Buffalo June 3-6.

  • Marketing Consultancy Report - Papa Massata Diack CEO, Pamodzi Sports Consulting
Marketing Consultancy Report - Papa Massata Diack CEO, Pamodzi Sports Consulting Presented to: IAAF Marketing Commission 3rd May 2015, Bahamas Content • Foreword • Personal Background • Key Milestones • Achievements • Summary 2 Foreword It is an honour and privilege to have worked since 2007 with IAAF & its exclusive worldwide marketing partner, Dentsu INC. to sell the number one Olympic sport, Athletics. The background of the relationship dated back to May 2001, when ISL Marketing AG was declared bankrupt and I was consulted informally by the IAAF President, Mr. Lamine Diack and IAAF Vice President & Marketing Commission, Prof. Dr. Helmut Digel, to give advise on the selection of a replacement company. It was only in July 2006 when I first attended the IAAF Marketing Commission meeting at IAAF World Junior Championships Beijing 2006 when my personal contribution was then formally requested based on my suggestion to reach out to Emerging Markets including BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China South Africa)Asia (including Middle East), NACAC and Oceania regions. My appointment was confirmed by IAAF President in September 2007. Then in 2009, the IAAF Council introduced the IAAF Continental Programme in its decentralization policy and my company was appointed as the main coordinator for this property. Thanks to all the stakeholders that have made this journey possible and especially Athletics Management & Services AG (AMS) with whom I co-operate with closely in order to achieve these goals. I am grateful for their total dedication to service Athletics and to 3 strengthen the business model of IAAF & Dentsu over the years. Personal Background Started in 1989, attended the 5th IAAF World Cup in Athletics in BarcelonaSpain, where I met ISL Marketing AG executives (Peter Sprogis & Craig Thompson).
