Erik Haaland is the Sales Director for Italia Yachts USA at David Walters Yachts. He has sailed his entire life and currently races on performance sport boats including the Farr 30, Melges 32 and J70. Andrew Waters is a Sail and Service Consultant at Quantum Sails in Annapolis. His professional sailing career began in South Africa and later the Caribbean and includes numerous wins in large regattas. Sail #17261 Ethan Johnson and Cat Chimney have sailing experience in dinghies, foiling skiffs, offshore racers and mini-Maxis. Ethan, a Southern Maryland native now living in NY is excited to be racing in home waters. Cat was born on Long Island, NY but spent time in Auckland, New Zealand. She has sailed with Olympians, America’s Cup sailors and Volvo Ocean Race sailors. Cat is Technical Specialist and Rigger at the prestigious Oakcliff Sailing where Ethan also works as the Training Program Director. Earlier this year Cat and Ethan teamed up to win the Oakcliff Double-handed Melges 24 Distance Race.

Such assistance should be a key service to our members and therefore we are instigating access through a special link on the AYH website. Many of us will have started research in yacht club records and club libraries, which are often haphazard and incomplete. Trio Fleet Report It has been a good year for the Trio fleet. There have been 2 new helms in the fleet and we welcomed Robert Luther who bought Fred and Debbie’s Wild Thing and Tom Ingram who bought Martin Luce/Andrew Soper’s boat Tatu. The season started with a very successful training event led by Bob. 20 Trio sailors took part with a good mix of Original rigs/new rigs. Bob put everyone through their paces starting with basics such as setting up the boats, rig tension etc. There were very helpful practice starts & races followed by a debriefing. Everyone had a great day & there were requests for a follow up next year. A brief review of the results shows a good turnout for the always popular Wednesday evening series with 18 boats competing.
