Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity 30 May 2021

Deuteronomy 4:32-34, 39-40. Psalm 33:4-5, 6, 9, 18-19, 20, 22. Romans 8:14-17. Matthew 28:16-20.

Go! In Matthew’s gospel, the last words of Jesus to the disciples before ascending have three key elements: go, baptize, I’m with you. Therefore, living after the means three things. (1) Do not stay where it is safe; shed your doubt; go everywhere to everyone. (2) Baptizing into and teaching about resurrected life go together. That is why the baptismal catechumenate (RCIA) always spends so much time and effort in formation before an Vigil. Time with parents and their babies, too. (3) We are not alone. Matthew ends with Jesus declaring, “I am with you always” just as this gospel began with the Virgin’s birth of Emmanuel (God is with us). ♦ What doubt do I have about God, about belief, about Church, about living in this world? Where can I turn? ♦ What ongoing formation in baptismal living do I need now? ♦ To whom am I called to “go” – someone to be with, to do for?

Parish Pastoral Minutes, April 20, 2021 Go To Meeting

Jim McCarthy led the opening prayer.

Minutes of the March 16, 2021 meeting were accepted as corrected. Minutes will be sent to Jo Ann Chamberlain for posting.

In discussion regarding solar energy and the parish, Julian will send a request to Bill to be put on the Agenda for an upcoming Finance Committee meeting.

Members Present: Fr. Herb, Bess Rohlsen, Greg Gresik, Bill McGillicudy, Julian Brown, Joseph Freeman, Jim McCarthy, Kathy Barri, Margaret Folga, Liza Dirl, John Svoboda, Sr. Lois Prebil & Dorothy Harris.

Absent: Jerry Bornhoff.

Bernice Lawrence has agreed to serve on the council as an at-large member. We still need to recruit another at-large member. The Finance Committee will choose one of their members to serve in Margaret's place. We are still seeking another representative for the Worship Commission. We would like to see a younger representative that could represent our youth.

The Parish Council will not meet in June and July. Any new members will be invited to attend the May meeting.

Sr. Lois asked for reports on each goal on where they are now. Another member was asked to give an idea to assist them.

Goal A - Greg will have a Zoom call with the Confirmandi. We had two from our parish. We have pictures from the live stream and did screen shots. Hope to post these in bulletin. Julian is looking for a person to talk about the Laudati Si conference and Climate change to our youth.

Goal B – Liza developed a newsletter and activities to do each day during Holy Week. It went to families with children 5 – 14 years of age. Greg liked this idea and anything that can be done to empower young families and connect young families with each other. John's family is still working on the Instagram account.

Goal C – Bess has been concentrating on recruiting new council members. She does get to converse with more Senior members of the parish quite a bit. Most feel St. Francis is meeting their needs, but they want to do something meaningful. They are waiting for things to return to normal. John suggested to ask them be serve as greeters, helping them to get to know more of our parishioners. He also mentioned keeping the greeter program going after COVID restrictions are over. Liza suggested tapping into the greeters, asking for their help in other areas.

Goal D - Dorothy is still unable to do too much regarding enhancing the liturgy, but it was announced that we will be able to have a lector at each Mass. The lector will read both readings and the psalm. Bill mentioned that we need to publicize the 10 am. Parking lot Mass more. Add information to the website, post in the bulletin and announce at the Masses, highlighting the fact that you can bring the Holy back into your life when attending this Mass. Also a quick email on Constant Contact and perhaps on Bolingbrook Patch to spread the word.

Goal E - Kathy hopes to get more work done with multicultural events by Pentecost. Dorothy mentioned that she could possibly use the 2019 parish directory for contact information.

Goad F - Bill and Margaret hope to get something ready for parishioners to work on grounds on 6/12 or 6/19, or possibly in May. We would do weeding, clip trees, mulch, etc. Deacon Gerry should be contacted to see if the lady who donates outdoor flowers is planning to donate this year. Also, it was suggested to contact Sarah from God's Green Earth and Angelo for assistance. The parish would provide refreshments and water, but volunteers would be asked to bring their own tools.

Goal G – Julian will send out information via Constant Contact. There is so much to learn. Parishioners can visit LivingtheChange.net. We need to lead by example, using Eco friendly transportation and educate ourselves on conservation. Joe reminded us to learn more about Community Solar by visiting CitizensUtilityBoard.org. If questions, contact Julian or him. Margaret thanked Julian for the exceptional he is doing in educating us. Julian also reminded us of Meatless Mondays. We need to try to reduce meat consumption by 15%

Our next meeting is scheduled for May 18, 2021 @ 7 pm. Margaret Folga will lead the prayer. Contact information for new council members should be sent to Jim McCarthy & Dorothy.

Respectfully submitted, Dorothy Harris

Congratulations To Our Confirmandi

FEAST OF FAITH

Liturgy and the Holy Trinity

The Trinity is the central mystery of our faith. We believe that God is one, yet three: total unity and rich diversity. God is not a monolith, but a dynamic community of persons, a perfect, loving harmony of three. And the liturgy is the work of the Trinity. We begin all our liturgical celebrations with the sign of the cross, a reminder of our Trinitarian baptism, and the simplest of all professions of our faith. We believe that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and we gather in the name of this triune God. Throughout the Mass, we address our prayers to God the Father, through Christ our Lord, in the Spirit’s power. And the Father hears our prayer, transforming bread and wine into the Body and Blood of his Son by the Holy Spirit. The Church is “the sacrament of trinitarian communion” (Sacramentum Caritatis, 16). It is the Trinity who holds us together as well. In the words of Saint , we are “a people made one by the unity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” (quoted in Sacramentum Caritatis, 16). —Corinna Laughlin, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co
